Taylormade Qi35 driver

This video popped up on my notifications last night - don't see many people playing Srixons but James here seems impressed with them.

Mark Crossfield positive on the Srixon as well. Might have to wait until next season, as the prices really are eye watering now for drivers in their first year, but I think the Ping and the Srixon will be the two to try.
I dont really go for testing one on the course as its just a few shots and a bit random as you can be influenced by where they end up rather than how they really launch. Nor fitters, as they look at cold numbers rather than your swing. Thats why I prefer a pro plus his launch monitor, as he can judge your swing as well and match that to the best club.

Probably the font on the underside of the club, similar to the new callaway driver. 🤪
Amazing how some of them spend so much of their assessment on comments about the aesthetics of the sole of a club sometimes when you wont even see it when hitting the ball. 😁.
The Qi35 problem seems more serious than that type of trivia though. We are all looking to gain something when we invest in a new weapon and even with the best care there is going to be an element of luck to how it will work out in the longer term. The last thing you need is taking a punt on one already found to have a huge problem in it. Its about maximising your chances of picking the best option.

But still no clue as to what the issue might be.

I don't follow any of that logic.

The only thing that counts is where the ball ends up, your perceived thoughts on what is the "best" launch might not be relevant to what gives you the best results in the real world on the course.

Nobody should be interested in how your swing looks during a fitting, it's all about the delivery of the club which is exactly what launch monitors measure versus what someone thinks they see.

But trumping that, see point 1, the most important thing is results of club on ball in real conditions on the course.

The logic is that on the course, you may have made a bad swing. You may have made a good swing but been aiming slightly off and the ball, despite a good shot, goes into a bunker, so chalk one against the club. The breeze might be slightly for or against, so you get a false impression of distance. You might slightly slip due to it being winter here and not quite catch the ball perfectly, but blame the poor contact on the club, not that it was your doing that had the club hit on the toe and lose distance. etc. etc. Where it goes on the course has far too many variables unrelated to the club to be in any way a useful try out.

If you are serious about trying them out, do so on a range, with a launch monitor, under the eye of a good teaching pro.

Crossfield is positive on Srixon as they sponsor him for a full bag deal. It is a hard to get a neutral review when they have some meat in the game.

Tried it and wasn’t impressed. Didn’t come close to the Callaway or the Ping (which I ended up with).

Wild how quickly these new models are coming out, all at 500 quid a pop. At least wedges, irons, putter lines seem to be every couple of year at least but a new driver for every season is ridiculous.

The prices of new clubs is crazy. But, companies like clubhouse golf offer 20% above the GC4C quotation so you can get decent trade in . Cost me £200 to upgrade to the G440. Softened the blow a bit !

Finally… the wait is over… Crossfield reviews Qi35…

I’m quite happy with my Sim2, just saying ;)
Crossfield usually calls it pretty straight I think, so if warning that Taylormade is trying to con people into buying the Qi35, I wouldnt dismiss him too quickly.
Looks like quite a bunch of duds this year with flawed new issues in the main. Ping seems a clear pick of the bunch, that can be bought without gambling your money on not being bitten by one of the competitors all bringing various serious issues.

I'm following the reviews of this new TM driver closely as i have a driver fitting booked for end of Feb. I do like the look of it but keeping my mind open.

Thanks for that, used Clubhouse Golf loads but never knew they did trade in, they definitely don't seem to advertise it especially and I had to have a search on their website before I found it!

Went for a driving fitting, tested basically everything and ultimately Qi35 was narrowly better (on the day) than the Ping but both were substantially better, for me, than every other offering. Low spin from the driver is an issue for me so arguably Crossfields review about the Carbon face is probably correct, and certainly did experience some low spinning hooks. Ultimately, against my 8 / 9 year old driver, club head speed was up, carry distance was up and dispersion tightened.... sort of. Turns out, bad shots are still bad shots regardless of the tech. I am increasing my speed so in the fitting also moved to a stiff shaft. I would say, with bad shots my F6 wouldn't just go nowhere; the new Ping and Taylormade (and Callaway) both had this tendency. Such is my dalliance nature, I'd done a lot of 'research' and actually anticipated being fit for the Adapt or GT2/3, but they both hated me.

In the end, the Qi35 stats show it to be about 15-20 yards longer in carry on average. I expected mishits to still be longer but actually this wasn't really the case. I have had the fortune of hitting it into both an outdoor range with trackman and indoor studio with trackman. I would say as a result I don't think I would have as much faith in an indoor fitting. Watching the actual flight of the ball has a different feel and visual to watching it turn into a red line. My F6 has a high seemingly penetrating flight but never much roll and does drop out of the sky at the end. The Qi35 (decent hits) does not drop out of the sky in the same way, so in better weather I will expect better total performance; the fitter did think lofting down and opening the face would help with my right to left bias - I did see the logic but it seems that definitely dropped the spin, which is different to what I need (I think), to around 2000 or so not totally sold yet on the change (but quite close).
