Has/ does anyone play these? I'm not a massive fan of Titleist and have been using Tour Preferred X recently but was interested to see people's thoughts on Project a.

I'm presuming they are higher spin than Tour Preferred, even more so than TPx?

I would class them as a premium budget ball. very similar IMHO to the AD333 Tour ball and NXT tour. a great ball i reckon, using up my old stock, then will be moving the either the project a or the AD333Tour for the season..

Wont be as spinny as the TP ball though.

Have you tried it? I struggled with the TP, everything was coming up short in the wind but the TPx was much better.

I just hate buying a dozen balls knowing that it will either be love or hate within 10 hits!

TPx is 5 piece, surprised it went better in the wind. does your pro shop not sell sleeves of 3 to try them out? you could always just buy a box and if you dont like punt the 9 boxed on to a mate or on here.

If you love the Tpx, then i would suggest the project a is not for you, the tpx is the proV1x equivalent. 40quid+ a box, project a are what i would class as a premium budget ball at sub 30 quid.

I think they were lower penetrating? Not that clued up on the tech!

I haven't come across sleeves of three anywhere my way at all.

Thanks for advice, might just stick with TPx

I've just bought a sleeve of 3 off ebay, having played the Titleist Velocity exclusively for over 2 years now.

Only had a putt with them so far, and they sound better off the putter more than anything else. First round with them on Saturday so I'll keep you posted.

I've got 12 of them and will break them out when the weather turns a bit better. With the caveat that I'm not sure how much of it is in the mind for a happy hacker like myself anyway, I do remember they got very good reviews in any ball comparison tests I've seen. So when they inevitably come down in price to around 20 notes when the next version comes out I'll probably fill my boots.

Bought a sleeve of 3 played it hated it. Seemed really short of the tee. I'm not normally the shortest hitter in the group but seemed to be with the project a.spin into the green seemed ok a couple of hops then stop. And felt reasonable off the putter with a descent role. Changed ball on back 9 Srixon z star and started hitting it the furthest of the group. Could be just me but won't be buying anymore soon

Ok, in the last 24 hours I've played 30 holes with the Project a - and I like it.

Off the driver felt solid (much as any ball does when you middle it mind) and there was no distance loss vs my old faithful Titleist Velocity, which is designed specifically for distance. One 5 wood I hit as my second on a par 5 when like a missile, an absolute mile.

Chipping with the ball was noticeably softer than the ol' Titleist and just felt better, softer and less harsh. Nice check after a couple of bounces, all good. Softer feel with the putter, albeit my putting was horrendous yesterday and today.

In summary, it feels great, better around the greens and no loss of distance. I will be playing this ball for some time to come...
