Good afternoon,
I have a set of old TaylorMade Tour Preferred T.D irons which date from around 1988. They all have a Green dot on the sole of the club. This, i believe, indicates the lie angle for the club.
I think there were also clubs with Black and Red dots produced. Does anyone happen to know what the green dots indicate. A similar PING chart shows that a green dot indicates a 2 degree upright lie with standard length shafts but I'm not sure if this correlates to TaylorMade. Thanks

A quick Google doesn't bring much up...
In 2008 a post on GolWRX asked a similar question and , so it seems, far back in the mists of time they did mark with Red, Black and Green dots but there was no indication as to what the lies would be..that ties in with your 1988 clubs
Sounds like an email to TM is required but even they may not know.....

The sole seems a funny place to put a colour coded dot, gets more wear than any other part of the club so likely to disappear in no time at all.

Thanks for the quick replies. My impression is that it is a simpler version of the PING codes where the Black, Red, Green indicate Standard, Slightly Upright & Slightly Flat respectivly.
Guess I'll keep looking.

Sounds like it might follow a similar system to Ping, but hard to say for sure. Maybe checking with TM or old club specs could clear it up.
