After years of playing with blades I when down to My clubs Driving range where they were having a Taylormade Demo day , tried a lot of woods and found the high launch 5 wood I like , also tried the CB tour preferred Irons and hit them the best of all the clubs and shafts i tried , 15 yards longer then my current clubs .........thats 45 feet longer ...............anyone playing with Taylor made clubs , just looking for feedback on these clubs , Thanks

I've got the 2010 TM cb"so which are forged, as opposed to the 2014 which I'm lead to believe are cast with forged faces.

Honestly I can't fault them, in march/April I went on a mission to change my clubs and after trying everything on the market I went back to these

Mark crossfield reviewed the 2014 model (which wasn't out when I was looking ) and said they are a vast improvement over the model I have... Pretty much says it all.

... Have you purchased yet.?

You ordered your 2014 version with speed slot then? Not seen the crossfield review but vastly improved will take some doing!!

I have 2010 version too and can't fault them either.

Thanks to you both , No i have not ordered them yet , waiting for the Taylormade guy to email the pro at my club with the info on the shafts , lie etc etc , my ball speed was up as was the smash factor , average tour pro is 138 and i was at 134 with range balls , not bad for a 55 year old , very impressed with the extra yardage and ball flight , hit it nice and straight with the 7 iron with a carry of 149 average with range balls . I just fancy a change as my handicap is now 5.9 and i am playing more again having just retired from full time work , wot are the long irons like ...........?

I have the 2010 tp cb club . Which is a cast club with a forged face insert welded in. Not all forged as has been said. The 2014 club is a all cast model. The main difference between to two, other than the slot that is. Is that they have a wider sole and a thicker top line. Think the best way to describe them would be as a game improvement club for better players. Who want some forgiveness in a more of a blade type club(ok I know they're not a blade. Just used for descriptive purposes)..

I have tried them, they were very nice! Felt nicer than my brute rocketbladez, but no longer and no more accurate, so just felt and looked nicer.

Thanks for all the replies , i will try and get a demo to knock around for a bit before , yes buying ..................EYG

I picked up my new set today 4 to PW , also order a new TM 56 wedge with 12 " bounce, few pitches in the garden with PW and a few swings ,like the look and they feel good , down the club at 0930 am tomorrow to have a hit in a 4 ball , will report back .................EYG

Seeing OPs original post ..... Haven't seen the clubs up close but online specs suggest stronger lofts at top of set, no surprise they fly further, 5i far closer to your 4i.

Like for like comparisons on different manufacturer sets only make sense if basics like loft and shaft length are same

Played this morning at 0930 am , shot 74 , 3 over , 3 birdies , 2,3 &11 , clubs feel nice and hit some good shots , 4 iron seem to go low and 6 iron not so good , need some time on the range with them but after blades i could hit these in my sleep , Paid our pro £80 to play in Burham & Berrow Proam sept 22nd , he likes the clubs and thinks i will start coming down again , hope so ....................EYG

I have the original (08) Tour preferred irons and so would be interested in comparing the spec. My immediate guess without checking will be the length of the latest version and the loft will be longer and stronger. I may well be wrong and happy to be corrected. A lot of good stuff being said about the new incarnation so my interest is piqued

It's not quite as simple as loft and length as technology such as the speed slot has meant that a modern 5 iron will peak at the same height as a previous 6 iron giving rise to the extra distance And cranked lofts.

If i can get hold of the details i will pm them to you , hit the 7 8 9 w good today , so easy , if i had a better putting day i would have scored better , I also have a 21* high launch SLDR 5 Wood with Fujikura 65 grams s flex shaft , hitting that lovely with a high slight draw out to about 230 yards , its my go too club now , take a lot of trouble out of play with it .............................EYG

I am now a few weeks down the road with these clubs , very good and easy to hit , shot 73 gross yesterday with 3 birdies , I played the 5 par 3`s on the course in 2 under with birdies on 2 & 14 , still work to do on them and play my 1st comp with them tomorrow and will report back then its up to play Hankley Common on monday , never played it but hear its a cracking course , We have our Parkstone Trophy semi final there on the 11th , its 36 hole scratch foursomes , 10 men team event , anyone played it ..................EYG

Played my 1st comp today with these clubs , Midweek stableford teeing off at 1154 , 39pts with 1 no score and it was a gross 74 so i be getting cut , very happy with them and so easy to hit , I have even got use to the stronger lofts very quickly ..............Go out and get yourself some , my blades are now history ........................EYG
