The same is true of you new putter....

That's true - but my putter was old and knackered - it was 30yrs old. It deserved retirement. Besides - folk would laugh when they saw it (ignoramuses that they are) and my old friend didn't deserve that. So new putter really only bought out of compassion for my old one- so not for me.

Its happening again...... That itchy feeling you get when you look at new clubs......My thoughts are that if youve hit more than at least a dozen exceptional shots over any given period with every club in your bag then you shouldn't change them......

It facinates me when I see really good players playing with battered blades or clubs that have seen better days.... Wedges with worn grooves.... Woods with battle scars.......
I always recite this to myself when a seed gets planted about changing gear... Why the hell am I wanting to change when I'm hitting my own well.... I trust them.... Ok they bite back at times but that's me not the clubs..... Everytime I set foot inside the local shop I either pull a Titleist AP1 712 or a Mizuno mp club......

I know exactly how you feel mate cos I'm in the same boat! I'm eyeing up a set of Titleist shineys and caught between the AP1's and AP2's! I've gone from a 28 handicap down to an 18 in since May last year and I really want to try and take my game to the next level with my next set of irons! That along with a few lessons, actually hitting the clubs and a fitting and I should be good to go! Have the added bonus that the missus has offered to buy me the new set for my 30th!! Happy days.

Problem I face that down here in Gibraltar we don't have the luxury you guys have over there with regards to fitting centres etc.

I know the 714's are out next month but thinking of the 712's too as I can only assume their price will be slashed once the 714's are available??

Yes - a bit odd - though I guess the Odyssey White Hot Pro #2 CS is pretty as close as you get get in a modern putter to my Acushnet Bullseye flange. I'm very happy with it. The look from above at address is not 'bizarre' as many putters would look to me. Biggest difference I am finding is the way the weighting is helping me maintain address alignment through the strike - my 3-6 footers are so much better and my FCs noted how positive my putting was in general. Biggest problem I have is the feel off the face for weight of long putts - but even that is already good. All in all I love it - so sorry Bully - you are retired.
