Takeaways

Chippy takeaway, the original and still the best, haggis or sausage w/chips, salt n sauce

Much as I enjoy Chinese, chicken fried rice/noodles etc and Indian curry’s and am partial to a pizza now and again too and even just burgers. The chippy is by far the toughest one to try and replicate at home, so it takes the title!
I had a battered haggis cob/ bread roll for the purists whilst in Oban. Bit of brown sauce. Sweet lord, porn in a cob.

Re Takeaways,it’s now Indian as I find Chinese takeaways as bland. Having said that, we had a gorgeous. Hinese in Bishop Auckland.
In Mansfield, Borrasha Indian Takeaway is as good as you can get.

Yup, Turkish/Lebanese restaurant set menu and bring your own booze is class when there's a few of you. Shish, schwarma, halloumi, sujuk, kofta, falafels, lovely stuff.
When I worked at General Electric (USA) we had a Lebanese manager. He took us to a Lebanese restaurant in Earls Court. Tucked away down a little side street to you'd never know it was there but filled with the local Lebanese community. Had no idea what I was eating but they had beers for sale and so he ordered several sharing platters and we tucked in with him and the locals. One of the best nights out in a restaurant I've had

Talking of best nights in a restaurant, me and Missis T once had a glorious night in a Tapas Bar in Lisbon.

Friday night... Think it'll be a Chinese for us tonight - might try something new!

Lot of Indian fans on here, big fan of an Indian but always preferred them eating out to at home!

I love a curry but prefer to cook my own. Having worked in east London for years and seen the environments in which some of the restaurant and takeaway offerings are prepared, it's an option that I no longer choose.
I know that the majority are fine and no worse or better than other flavours of takeaway but you can't unsee what you've seen.
Chinese however, no nasties can survive 60 seconds in a wok at 800°C. Can they?

To all the fans of Indians on here, have any of you tried Dishoom for their breakfast? They do such delights a Breakfast Naans - think bacon and egg wrapped up in a naan, with chilli jam and a great spicy chicken mince dish with fried egg on top. They aren't UK wide (unfortunately) with quite a few restaurants in London, and then in Manchester, Edinburgh and Birmingham. We always go for a breakfast if we are in the vicinity of one of their places.

Can't say I have a favourite - as it depends on ones mood as to what one fancies at the time.

But a nearby Chinese is hard to beat when ones in the mood.
Singapore fried rice
Crispy aromatic duck
Salt n pepper spare ribs
Szechuan king prawns.
Does one ever eat swan?

Had the misfortune of having to look in the kitchen of an Evening Standard award winning restaurant in Drury lane a few years ago. Dirt, Mice and unwashed pots everywhere

Cheeky manager even offered me and the family a free meal if i worded a report favourably for him. That was a Hard Pass!
