Congrats to the OP for still being here. The way some people have insulted him I wouldn't blame him for thinking that this was like most other internet forums and not bothered logging in again.
I agree and even more so considering that most people who have thrown the insults can hardly shoot below 80 themselves!
Speed and length of drives IS the key to golf regardless of what anyone wants to say. if you don't have enough power to play the course then you're fecked.
At 5 ft. 5 in. and weighing 120 pounds, LPGA Tour Pro Lorena Ochoa's average drive is 271 yards. Probably longer than most of the people who have commented about taking 50yrs off their drives!

If you CAN'T swing hard then you HAVE to learn to be accurate... but if you CAN swing hard then swing your socks off!!
I don't have a handicap at the moment - still practicing. I normally play my club's 9-hole course (short par 3) and get around +2. Played one golf society competition and got +12 and longest drive (270, downhill). In practice I normally birdie/par/bogey most holes but have occasional nightmare hole. I would guestimate about +12 handicap.
I also think it's a wind up after looking at his email address.
It sounds like you are suffering from Little Man Syndrome. Please don't let that spoil your enjoyment of the game.

I'll leave you with something on of the commentators said about Luke Donald last night, roughly quoted as...
As for Homer - why would I want to spend my time on a course with a person who advertises his own golf blog and who celebrates mediocrity (for someone who wants to hit scratch, wtf use is 37)? I think I would rather have a testicle removed.
Oh and 37 points is very useful as it means you've beaten your handicap - something you have to do very regularly if you want to get to scratch.

I'd rather have 36 points and play off scratch.
