Such a brilliant day - The Brabazon...

As has been mentioned, I would put Beau Desert above the Brabazon, and then I would add Little Aston, Blackwell is very under estimated IMO, I was suitably impressed with Edgbaston which was manicured to a very high standard with some great hole
Having played all the courses you mention a number of times I would be fascinated to know which are the great holes at Edgbaston. It is nothing more than a well maintained parkland members' course.

Also, as I have stated on here before IMO Blackwell is not underestimated, rather it is probably the most overrated course in the Midlands.

Beau Desert and Little Aston are, I agree, the two finest courses in the West Midlands region. Enville's courses are good, not great, rather like the Brabazon.

When did you last play Edgbaston?

April ? It's not bad but it's nowhere near the brabazon, I'm not sure what people expect from the brabazon, obviously everybody remembers the 10th and the 18th as the stand out holes but it's a great course, people come from all over the world to play it, just surprises me how much stick it gets. Each to their own, personally I'd never get bored of playing on it, hopefully I'll be on it next Saturday and can't wait,

As I said, it goes down to what you want out of a course and what you came to expect, I played Hoylake and was really disappointed, once you strip away the clubhouse and the history, very much like the Belfry, it wasn't all that and I would comfortably place Wallasey, Hillside and Formby above it, I'd even go as far as saying that if it wasn't for a small handful of holes at West lancs (as a course) I'd put that before it also! So, it goes down to personal opinion and the Brabazon is nowhere near worth what they charge for a round or membership IMO. So based on the green fees of £160 against many others in the area at well less than £100, it doesn't offer me value for money.

Exactly, I've played loads of top courses and found that there not as good as what you believe them to be, the 2010 at Celtic manor doesn't have many memorable holes, best course I've played has to be the old course with kingsbarns a close 2nd, I'd also put antsy up there ;)

Value for money is a completely different argument.

I personally think it is impossible to justify any green-fee in excess of £60 as value for money but that is just my choice.

Still cannot think of any great holes at Edgbaston though.

What GPS do you use and/or did your fellow player/s use when you played Little Aston?

I used a strokesaver as hadn't charged my skycaddie, unsure how up to date the course is if that's your question though. One guy had the Garmin watch the others had nothing.

I've tried twice this year and despite what the web site says I've been told to "do one " my chiropractor is a member and sorted me out though. I would say for course lay out and playability it beats the brabazon. But for condition and presentation..... Not even close

If little Aston is better than the brabazon I can't wait to play big Aston 😄

Well it was head and shoulders better 3 weeks ago, Brabazon greens were slicker but Little Astons were still very good.

Little aston would be in great condition this time of year because they hold the open qualifiers there followed by some senior tour. Great course. Wish i could get in

Had a check on the Top 100 site and the Brabazon is above Little Aston - not played either but it surprises me as Little Aston was long renowned as the premier club in the West Midlands. A few other good names also rank below it: Remedy Oak, Bearwood, Moortown, Gleneagles Queen's and Ballyliffin Old. Check out the 'Ball Rating' and joe-public golfer has a different opinion
