Such a brilliant day - The Brabazon...

All joking aside, if clubs like Little Aston do have such a snobbish attitude then they may well find themselves in trouble in the near future as membership continues to dwindle.

Hopefully... Walmly golf club is like this and I think they are struggling. The membership advisor bombarded me with emails for days almost begging me to try the place before I joined the Belfry but I'd heard all I needed about the place to make my mind up without going to look around. I think they are offering £20 a round now which isn't going down to well with the members apparently.

Unfortunately not. Their members have an open check book. The club wanted to increase their members by 15%. But the members decided to pay a undisclosed additional anual fee instead

That may be the case but you only have to do the sums. A decent golf club has a turnover somewhere in the region of £1m in the southern part of the country. That's the total amount from subs, green fees, bar income etc.

If your membership drops to say 250, that equates to each member having to stump up £4k each to keep the club ticking over. Trust me, people will start to walk at that sort of expenditure.

A step up from a Peugeot 308 :D

That's why I liked the feel of Ricks club - Centurion

It is obviously very exclusive but not one single bit of airs and graces about the place with every single person I met that day ( including one of the owners ) extremely welcoming and pleasant

Our cars still looked out of place in the car park though Phil!!!!!

When your car is worth over £100k and you wear a watch costing over £10k, then £4k a year is pocket money.

What you're saying makes perfect sense. But their clientele is a little different. They have members that play once a year and still pay there sub's! Why you ask!

So they can tell all their buddy's at the lodge that they are a member of little aston. Pathetic really

We get your point homer! You dont like the belfry. I get it

I didn't say that and have been vocal that the National and Derby are good courses. The greens on the Derby are top notch and quick. I like some parts of the Brabazon too. It was just tired and looked jaded when I was there. I've not been back and as I said, I hope the investment has made a difference and I'd be prepared to have my opinion changed. I just think for £3,200 there would be better paces to join

haha you got lucky :)

That said Ive always felt the same at Ashridge and Brocket Hall in the car parks! Thankfully only Ashridge where the feeling has continued once in the clubhouse

Cant say I have EVER felt the love at Brocket, I have always been given the feeling that the hordes of visitors who tromp the courses seven days a week are the lowest form of life. Just my thoughts.
