There is a feature on the GM home page about GMac using strokeaverage.com. I had a look at it and it really does look like you can record everything to the nth degree. Not sure about how realistic it would be to use and record during a medal round but does anyone use it on here. How do you record how far putts were etc as you go or do you just guestimate when you get home.

It also has a £30 annual fee which did sort of put me off. I'd love to hear what others thought before I download the trial version

Sorry mate, recording stats isn't my thing, I am a seat of the pants man. Could never see the point, as I don't really work on my game, I just whack a ball around in as few shots as possible.

Homer, I thought we had got you past that. Didn't you get to the point of realising that over analysis was killing your game - and you want more of it!

I always count up fairways, greens and putts in my head after I've played - usually in the car on the way home.....you then have a good idea of what to work on before you next play properly....now where's that putting green.....

Golf analysis software, I really don't get it.

Any golfer with an ounce of common sense knows where their strong and weak parts of the game are.

Why spend £30 a year to find out something you already know?

DHM.

I was merely intrigued as the article made such a big play about the software. Clearly there is universal apathy about it from the forum and is maybe something more akin to tournament golf. I'll stick with SS2 and save my £30

It wasn't over analysing that was killing my game it was an inability to swing the club correctly. I never monitor my stats during a round other than to mark on my SS2 sheet (kept behind my scorecard in my scorecard holder) how many putts I took, a tick or cross for hitting the fairway, an arrow < or > if I miss, a tick if I hit a GIR and whether I get up an down from a greenside bunker. It is all marked on the card and takes 10 seconds per hole when marking the card on the way to the next tee. I just sort the stats out after the round and find out how well or not I've done and what needs working on
