Sorry guys......but a certain Mr TW is still the same, slamming his clubs down and all over the place after every bad shot, and there are some shockers, .......and I still can't stand the guy.
Sure he's capable of brilliance, and when it's all going his way, he's all smiley, but the rerst of the time he's just a big sullen petulant kid, and not the kind of example id want any of our juniors to follow.

I don't care who wins, as long as it ain't him......

Agreed, Tiger is a horrible role model, youngsters that still think he is the best player in the world will think this is acceptable and soon they will be on the course acting the same way.
He needs to take a tip out of Quiros's book, That trouble he has had this round with a 7, kept his cool and has had an unbelievable round... and an unbelievable ace, well played to the man.

Woods spitting is the thing that distresses me most. I`d love his caddy to offer him the towel and tell him to clean it up.
He really is a petulant, arrogant ill mannered turd

Sorry, feel better now that`s off my chest.

Alvaro Quiros: what a reaction to his hole in one and what a fantastic response and attitude to that horror 7. :)

The two faces of golf today. I know which guy I`m rooting for ;)

I fear his caddie is just as bad as him - especially as he's the highest paid "sportsman" from New Zealand and therefore scared of losing his nice little earner.

Not sure whether it's been mentioned before but has anyone else noticed Steve Williams removing his caddies bib on the 18th hole before everyone has finished?

Perhaps he is also embarrassed being associated with the moody spitting Tiger?

While I'm not condoning spitting or Tiger's antics in general, let's get bit of perspective here. Ignoring off-field activities for a while, I think someone like Wayne Rooney is looked at much more of a role model by many more people than Tiger is. Try watching a Premier League game - or any game for that matter - and see how long it is before we see "Gob of the Day". 2minutes tops I'll bet. You see more petulance, cheating, violence, swearing and gobbing in 90 minutes of football than you do in a whole season of Golf.
How many kids actually watch golf on tv compared to football?
It's not right to behave like that on a golf course but in reality the only person that's getting hurt is Tiger.

I agree with you to a point Imurg, but football is full of overpaid, underachieving cheats and ill discipline, foul play and bad manners are almost encouraged by teams managers.

Golf, on the other hand, prides itself on being a game played by gentlemen where cheating is frowned upon by players and officials alike.

Tell me when a footballer will call a foul on himself(made by him). In golf, we don`t have to go very far to name several high profile incidents; Poulter`s ball marker and Brian Davis in a play off with Jim Furyk to name just 2.

But the point was that very few kids will start gobbing on the golf course because so few will actually see it. Millions of kids see enough spit to fill a swimming pool every time they watch MOTD. And if any do, I would expect every club member or Pro would stamp on it sharpish.

Well said

Doesnt really bother me to be honest. Not like you eat anything off the ground, just picking the ball up every now and again. Wash your hands at the end of the round and you have nothing worry about :).

So does anyone have a problem shaking hands with a guy who has pisssed his way round the back nine?

Spitting isn't the worst thing I have seen on a golf course and I dont think the junior sections across the country will be plegming all over the course.

+1

Exactly the problem. They are used to seeing all the footballers spit all the time and those kids who do play golf will see Tiger on tv doing it as well. What worries me is that as a result a minority may think that spitting on the golf course is now ok whereas before there would have been a much clearer demarkation between how players behave on a football pitch and how players behave on a golf course.

Whilst I am not his biggest fan. should he not be judged on his golf.
All this role model bollox. When I was growing up, I didn't model myself on charlton, best, law, or any of the other icons of the day. Aren't we just using this as an excuse for a bad upbringing, bad manners and modern disrespect for everything?. FFS lets get real here

Slightly agree Vig, but some of the crap you see on kids football pitches is straight from the prem, running at the ref, diving, it's unreal and one of the reasons I stopped my young lad playing and sent him to rugby.

It's not a role model thing for me, but there's no doubt young players are influenced by what they see the pros do

Vig,I too have never understood this role model pish,I grew up being myself not thinking I was Seve,Woosie,Dalgleish....well maybe hoping I was McAvennie! ;)
Would that be mcAvennie the footballer or his extra ciricula activities? :D

Steve Williams only throws his weight around because he's Woods caddy. If he was bag man for anyone else he'd treat the crowds with the respect the other guys do. I get the impression he isn't exactly popular with the other tour guys anyway. Woods is an idiot. End of. Sublime talent when on song but as far removed from a decent role model as you can get.
