Guessing that means he'll now have time on his hands for his other passion... Golf...

I believe he plays to a good [high] standard...

Wish him well... He's been a very worthy champion...

Hated him when he was always winning, a bit like Davis back in his day. Was an awesome break builder though. A shame really but shows the game has moved on as really he isnt that old as far as snooker goes.

Yes an all time great of the baize. His heart and determination is obviously not there anymore. Speaking on his passion for Golf I think I can explain why he performed poorly at the Crucible as he paid a visit to one of my local courses the other day. Here he is kitted up and heading out to play:

Stepen Hendry takes time off to visit Renishaw Park
Stephen Hendry came and played on Saturday 28th of April around tea time at Renishaw Park Golf Club. He is pictured about, about to make his way to the first tee. Other players from The World Snooker Championships have been invited to enjoy a game at Renishaw Park in the the next week or two.

I'm another who couldn't warm to him when he was the best in the world, but I'm starting to like him more now.

What swayed it for me was listening to him commentating. Absolutely spot on with his comments and very easy to listen to, unlike some of the others I won't mention.

Spoke to somebody at the club and they said he was a cracking bloke. Agree he came across pretty dour when playing but he was that focused and determined not to lose thats what made him appear like that.

I'm pleased he lost today only because I quite fancied him at 80/1 but never backed him, then he got down to 9/1 I was beginning to worry.

Like Davis I've warmed to him over the years.

I'm sure he's a great bloke, we don't really know him do we?

One of the all time greats and broke record after record, but he wasn't my favourite player either.

I remember going to an Exhibition match in Worthing West Sussex, many years ago and saw him along with Jimmy White, Peter Ebdon and Mike Hallett. He was the most miserable and dour player I'd ever seen. Which surprised me, as he was supposed to be there to entertain the public and didn't seem to want to be there.

I didn't like (warm) to him as a player but you cannot argue with what he achieved. I hope he finds something he enjoys doing and spending time with loved ones.

Bit like Tiger or other top sportsmen in that regard , i supose its hard to develop people skills when your focus is practice & beat all others .. bit dower & drab kinda guy , but seems a decent fella , think he just lost the intrest to practice for 8 hours a day now .. alright when you are young & trying to make it , he has been ther & done that has the titles & the cash

Never liked him because of his football affiliations (he's a jambo) but can appreciate that's rather dumb.Quality gas merchant.
