Just a few months back my best round was 82. Today I broke 80 for the third consecutive time with a score of 76, I felt my game wasn't quite firing on all cylinders either. I'd rate todays form at 8 out of 10 compared to how I could play. The difference score wise was that I didn't do any duffed chips that usually make quite a reqular appearance, the only bogeys I made were down to pulled 3/4 wedge shots that found bunkers and I didn't make the up and down, and 1 lost ball on the 3rd resulted in a double. But I made 2 birdies, so overall I was happy and I can see where I have to improve.

That is pretty good scoring especially as the season hasn't started properly yet. I hope you won't be peaking too soon. Remind me of your handicap again as I might be having a chat with the powers that be on here (well Smiffy and Murph) and cutting you big time if you are playing Ascot!

I am all for every one getting a cut before Ascot, it is the only way I am going to retain the trophy.

Scratch. That's my take on it. Put him off scratch.

I don't have a handicap yet, im putting some cards in soon.
I haven't played the course off whites yet, so I was going to put in a few cards with scores from before my recent surge in form, with scores around 82-85. Im in a bit of a hurry to get a handicap so I can start playing some comps, I genuinely feel that in competition play a handicap around 12 will be about right for my ability. It'll soon go down if not.

We are handicapping the defending champ? What? As if shedding 3 shots off my true handicap (12) isn't enough, I've got to play off 8!

I need to put some cards in, and quickly.

But it sounds like he is off yellows, or winter tees.

Also, make it for real, name in book, card in hand, tees right back, pins tucked away, world of difference.

Wait and see.

Not putting a spoke in the OPs wheel, I think he is being realistic.

If the par is 72 and you shooting 4 over then a handicap of 12 seems very high.
Yeah, like Murph said im off winter tees, with winter greens. Lets say my average for the last 3 games is 78, my usual average off yellows with greens in play is about 82 so im trying to be fair to myself and everyone else with allowing for an extra couple of strokes of Whites, without going too over the top. To be honest I think I may struggle at times playing to a 12 handicap, a lot of holes are a different prospect off the whites.

Well done mate nice shooting

I'm up there tomorrow morning , were they on all main greens yet ? Didnt realise you could play in the week either , work a bit slow ?

catch up with you soon and we can have that discussion about you wanting an 8 handicap :D

Cheers mate, Yeah we had a day off today so couldn't resist a game. All temps again, most of the greens looked fine but there was a bit of a frost this morning and I guess they're saving them for the weekend, I hope.
I can't be doing with an 8 handicap, you might beat me  ;)

Haven't posted for a while but just to make a general comment, I have been told recently that you are only supposed to be able to play to your handicap 1 one round in 4 i.e 25% of the time, If you are doing it 50% of the time you should be cut a shot and clubs in the UK are supposed to be implementing it.

Thanks, thats reassuring as it sounds about right, i'll probably shoot 84 off the Whites 1 in every 4 attempts.

Hi jammy good score ,i wont mention my round, seems like aaron is doing me every game now,my fade seems to be turning in to a nice slice. :D

Hey guys

that sausage just wouldnt stay straight and then when I thought i'd holed it the bloomin thing was sticking half in half out the hole ;)

all temps today unfortunately but had a good wander around some of the greens and they dont seem too wet so when this frost finally buggers off then we're good to go. I'm defending a 4bbb comp on saturday so fingers crossed
