State of this forum

Really it was a genuine question.
Most men don’t know what to say in case we do offend somebody these days especially women.

It’s a mine field and your comment just proves it I’m afraid.
If you don’t know how to speak to someone without offending them then that’s your problem not there’s.

If your assertion that “most men don’t know what to say” is correct then I for one am glad to be in the minority on that one!

On the topic of the OP, I find the forum great and if you skim over some of the bickering then some of the posters are very very informative/enlightening. I use the Brexit topic to keep up to date with the key developments and search out some of the more well thought out posts. These are usually SILH, Hobbit, Lord Tyrion, SR, Tashyboy, kellfire, amongst others. I feel I have a good grasp of there respective ‘leanings’ and use that knowledge to help inform my thoughts on their posts.
As for the football.... well again I actually seek some out when there teams play. I enjoy LPs thoughts on liverpool and he’s usually fairly insightful from a tactical nuance, Tashys ramblings are always enjoyable and the odd Newcastle poster is always good to see.

As for the golf insight it can only be Bob for guidance (although I miss coach) and homer for the struggles!

All in all the forum is a positive place, and a strong community. I’m fairly certain if it all ever came down to it we’d each have the support of several people on here.

Not quiet sure u get what he saying . Its for fear of offending people .. god b with the days u could say harmless stuff and it was seen as that ..

Hope the God reference doesnt offend 😉😉

I will have a debate but no matter what you say I’m not willing to change my mind. I’m right and you’re wrong.
If I have the last word I’ve obviously won 😉

This forum has been a great place for me, I have used the ignore function to its fullest.

I strongly suspect they and others have me on ignore too, which has likely improved the forum for them too.

I do know how to speak to people but can’t legislate for the professionally offended.
I held a door open for someone last month, and was told “ don’t you think I can open a door for myself”
I will give you one guess what sex it was.

Why do you need to put whites on a hot wash?
Honest to God I have no idea...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
You don't have to, you just can and it washes more effectively. Colours on a hot wash can run, whites wont. You can keep them on a 40C wash if you want to play safe.

Thank you for coming to Mumsnet today 😁

I think the forum is great for learning things from people who know what I don’t.

The flaw for me is something written down in black and white can be taken by some people out of context.

If you are looking someone in the eye their facial expression tells a story so a joke is taken as it should be.
With the same thing in writing can be taken the wrong way by some people.

That is 100% accurate. I know for me personally there are a handful of people on here who never seem to know when I'm joking. I am very dry and sarcastic, in real life it's easier to spot, but perhaps in text, not so much.

Aside from colour fastness, people often have a perception that white garments won’t clean properly unless washed at high temps, when in actual fact it’s more the need to use the correct detergent, ie a non-colour detergent. Whites detergents have bleaching agents, colour detergents have no bleaching AG a nets but brighteners instead. Colour detergents turn whites grey but keep the colour in the garment, whites detergents keep the garments white but fade colour garments:)

Yes, mumsnet knows nothing:)

If it's stuff like bedsheets and towels etc. you should anyway as it kills any bugs and eggs that are present, 40 degree washes don't.
Yes correct, 60degrees minimum for towels and bedding.
Always makes me laugh when I have someone ask me to remove my shoes before entering(I have shoe covers instead) as they have a baby, but wash everything at 30 degrees:)

I drive and wedge them into the washer, putt them out to dry and finally iron them, before putting them away, does the trick ;)
