Are you talking about full blown watering and irrigation? It’s for irrigation and seems needed, the cost is eye watering

How does the forum feel about membership levy’s for capex projects?
I had considered this at the time I was making moves to the effect of being comp sec, but had not really realised just how much we would be away, but as you may know, on the thread I've heard nowt. So I assume that's a dead duck. The wife has yesterday said we must sort out Canada (trip she's always wantedSo how does this work with your attempt to be comp secretary?
Surely you knew already you wouldn’t be around for so much of next year?
You do what you have to do.
Where you heading? SAOL, LGD or are you making the “Royal” leap? This. We've decided to move clubs after 12 years.
We've gone to LGD so playing at the two until subs run out at the end of January.Where you heading? SAOL, LGD or are you making the “Royal” leap?
that's very cheap. obviously not south eastRumour at our club is subs are going up £150 to £1250. We have a waiting list at the moment so I can see lots of new members next year

Nope , south Manchester.that's very cheap. obviously not south east
Would be expensive for up here in the north east/Northumberland. Most member courses are still below £1250 a year. I paid £747 last year.that's very cheap. obviously not south east

Sounds like I need to live up north !And that is for 12 months of the year golf(except when the fret comes in of course
)
One of the best members clubs in the county, if not the best, is Alnmouth GC, £735 per year. £375 joining fee that can be spread over 5 yrs but even so, that's great value for that club and course. We are very lucky up here.
I live in East Lothian but would happily move to Northumberland.Sounds like I need to live up north !
We are all about Loan notes and Levy’s to fund capital projects. How does the forum feel about membership levy’s for capex projects?
Hi, I’m moving to the area can you give me an idea of their subs and joining fee? (Huddersfield) I’m guessing expensive but as you say with all the extras may be worth it. I was looking at woodsome hall but their 150% joining fee is a little eye wateringI think for most people - especially those that work full time - a full membership of a golf club probably isn't value for money in terms of how much it costs per round, the premium I pay to be a member is so I can have access to the course when I want, play in comps, and for the social aspect as well.
I am actually going to give a flexi membership a try next year alongside my current membership - Dewsbury does the flexi option for just over £500 and it's right on my doorstep so I'll use it to see if I'd get far more vfm from having a course that is 2 minutes away.
I've also considered joining Huddersfield which is the lads home club - big joining fee, expensive subs but it's playable pretty much all year round and in excellent condition regardless of the season - plus you get excellent practice facilities and free range balls - so when you break the costs down, factoring course playability etc, pound for pound it won't be far off what I'm paying now.
I'd always want to have some sort of membership though - I wouldn't play a fraction of the golf I do trying to arrange social golf with mates.
We introduced a voluntary bunker bond.We voted in a £50 levy per member for the next 4 years to cover complete bunker renovation program and other course projects
Very innovative and a great idea. Hope it is supported. We introduced a voluntary bunker bond.
Each month you can pay in £20 if you wish. Each month there is a prize draw and a payout (which is a certain percentage of the total money paid that month) is made to three lucky golfers. The rest goes towards a program renovating our bunkers. Monthly payouts are typically are £300-£400 spread across the 3 winners.
Getting the diary sorted early is great. My society normally releases it's dates in January, by which time I've nearly always booked a holiday, or some weekend trips, so I end up having to miss one or more events. However, the 2026 dates were issued in Oct25, three months earlier than normal! This is such a bonus for me.Well well. Our place has just done a huge board re-organisation and put out on e mail the re-structure. And new membership offer for 18 months, and a winter membership and next years fees, and a £20 raffle thing and all next years comps are already listed in the diary!!!! WITH A START OF THE SEASON SCRAMBLE LISTED !!!!! WOW!!!! Just WOW!!!!!
But less so for your wife, who now has a much narrower window to book holidaysGetting the diary sorted early is great.
