I don't use the ignore function but do skip over a few people's posts.
There is a definite clique too.
At the end of the day it's just a forum and not important to me.

Pretty much reflects what's happening in UK with some sensible Golf stuff: amusing, annoying and time-wasting, but all in all mostly positive.

I tried that but it distorts a thread as conversations take place, replies are made and it makes no sense. It's a shame as the theory behind the function is good but it just does not work for me.

I tend to do what robinthehood suggests and skim over posts from certain people, only reading them if you need to understand what is going on on a thread. I use my own filter in effect, ignoring those who have a largely negative effect on here. I'm only on here for fun and as Jeff Stelling keeps reminding me, 'When the fun stops, stop'

Thought the forum had been fairly quiet recently tbh, I don't read many threads in OOB, maybe the threads you are referring to are there.

Quite a lot of people helping others, people giving answers to questions and offering to host others, all stuff that is great on the forum.

Honestly though, distorted thread or not...at least now I dont waste my time reading their thoughts.

The forum is a small reflection on society right now - divided , entrenched views and at times goes over the line

But the forum has many times showed it can go beyond that and be more of a community - some people call that a clique but it’s just people that have played golf together a number of times and lots of times for a very good cause

In the world of online forums This place is certainly tame compared to many other places - Facebook and Twitter two prime examples.

I don't see any reason to lose sleep over the odd disagreement. People post on here by and large to waste time I would have thought, and what better way to waste time than a lengthy debate over something trivial? Really nothing we say or do here matters so no need to take anything to heart. Skip over the bits you don't like and don't let it ruin your day.

Yeah.... & it saves time from having to check-out the Mail & Express to get a gauge of those extreme right-wing opinions. Rather scary at times & difficult to recognise the country I'm living in.
