Just a query regarding stableford and handicap adjustments. Am I right in thinking your hc can be adjusted even if you blob a hole and don't bother finishing it?

Yes, in a Stableford competition any blob is considered a nett double bogie in a qualifying competition

I think it's the norm that if you blob a hole in a medal your score is an NR for the full round and 0.1 back.

It's perfectly possible - and I've seen it happen many times - to NR in a medal and have a handicap reduction. CONGU requires that your scores continue to be recorded even after failing to hole out on a hole in a medal.

You learn something new everyday!

I have been in that situation myself and didn't even hand the card in because I had a lost ball that would have meant going back to the spot where the shot was from and another group had teed off behind us.

Right. I have never N/R in a comp, did not even know you could TBH

Keep it that way. Once you start to NR it can become an easy option if you are having a bad round. Mybe its the masochist in me but I try to record the best score I can on any given round even if that means just trying to beat 100. Went out in +12 in the medal yesterday and had no chance of winning but kept going and knocked it round in +5 for the second 9 and recorded a top ten finish in the division. You never know until its signed and handed in

Will do. If I am going to be +20 then so be it. I played a social round a while back and I was +11 for the front 9 and -1 for the back 9 so as you say it is never over until the final putt drops

You could NR the first in a medal and wizz round 10 better than your HC having played the round of your life and get a great cut, the only thing you wouldn't get is the winners trophy for the medal.

even though you have NR to save the walk back to the tee etc, you can and should play out the rest of the round and return your card you may make buffer or even get a cut as the score is calculated in stableford points for handicap purposes.

I would have without a doubt made buffer probably would have been in with a shout of a cut had I known about this rule.

I was on the 16th hole par 5 at Matfen Hall, long shot in to a raised green that you can't see from the fairway, i hit the shot well and I expected to walk up and find the ball on the green and it was never seen again.

It would have caused chaos to go back and play from where my original shot was played as another group was there and another group on the tee.

Just put it down to bad luck and played on knowing I was out of the competition.
