St Pierre GM event

Many congratulations and well played Homer.

Glad to see you enjoy the sunshine briefly after missing out as you say.

Have a great time at the final, nothing like expectation....... :)

Glad you all enjoyed it, sounds as though the Scottish lads got the bums rush with a dire condition Dalmahoy with shag piles that ran at 0.1 on the stimp!!!!

Well done to all the prize winners.

Well played HJS - that weeks break from the golf must have worked wonders. It was a tough track if you strayed slightly as I found out to my cost on the back 9.
Good luck at my local Marriott, you will enjoy the Arden and the 18th there will be a doddle as you've already played something similar at St Pierre.

I know of at least 3 forummers through to the final, HJS, GB72 and Bladeplayer I think.

Superb effort homer great to see you in the final pal good luck for the final mate

As previously mentioned, a very good day out and goes to prove that the sun shines on the righteous. Well done GM, perhaps you can organise a similar event next year. The soup was very nice.

Haven't said it properly yet but well done Homer and best of luck at Arden.

Robbest - you were nothing like I imagined! Still need to get that round sorted!

Just got back from sunny Wales after a morning doing the touristy thing with the lady wife. Who said miracles couldn't happen? The course was good and pretty tight with most holes tree lined and actually quite narrow. A lot of the greens were pretty small and accuracy was paramount. I played with Sean (Sawtooth) and he wasn't feeling very well when he left so I hope he got back to Sandhurst ok as he was really struggling.

We had two winners in our group. I won the 10-13 section although to be honest with 34 points I thought I'd be a couple shy. Went out well with 18 including a no score on nine and back in 16 with four single pointers. I played with a great guy called Jim from Minchhampton (?) who took the 19+ category. He had played the course before and so was some help off the tees but even then you really had to have played it before to truly know the best places to put it.

Brilliantly organised day so well done to Jezz, Alex and Tom who crept up with his camera (usually as I was duffing or missing putts) and well done to the Marriott for a decent spread.

I hit the ball nicely and enjoyed hitting fairway and green for par at the 442 yard SI 2 4th. The 18th is a brute. Par 3 of 236 off the whites uphill. Hit a shocker of a thin 3 wood that run halfway up the hill and then hit a semi blind pitch in front of the GM crew watching by the 18th to a foot for par. 55 players and only 2 hit the 18th all day.

Really looking forward to the Final at the Forest of Arden and can't help feeling a little redemption for missing the Ireland trip to see Padraig. Broke the news to my mum this morning and it's made her feel a whole lot better and HID is thrilled. Tried to keep it short (for me anyway) but I'm a tad pleased with myself and my performance for a change. Happy, happy days

Cheers Homer, I made it back OK yesterday after a short nap in the car.

I was as sick as a dog yesterday, I dont know if it was dehydration, heat exhaustion or what. After about the 9th hole I felt so tired , dizzy and my legs and back were aching. I was burning up and just wanted to sit down all the time. I have never felt so f****** on a course on all my life.

Still I was there and still standing (just about) at the end and witnessed a fine display of golf from all 3 of my playing partners.I played with 2 winners!! Jim scored 36 but alas is not a forumer so all of the praise goes to Homer and deservedly so, it was a solid round.

Thanks to barum_blue (?) as well who was the other guy, from what i remember was about 17 pts at the turn but maybe fell back a bit in the closing holes. I enjoyed their company a lot and another word of thanks to GM who put on a sterling golf day.

Just a shame I wasnt well enough to enjoy it fully, but look forward to the next GM event - hopefully not the next centenary.

Congratulations Homer, your game can't be that bad if you can score 34 points around there. Best of luck at the Forest of Arden.

And congratulations to all the other forummers who made it through to the final.

Oh and Well done Stevie for winning the longest drive. "Who the hell's Tomgolfy?!" :D

Was a great shot, I have to admit. Measured at 306 yards. I preferred the safer option of laying up in the bunker and chipping it out short to give me a better shot into the green (so I could blob the hole  :D)

Good to see you working on your course management :)

Yep, it's working a treat :)

Funnily enough I was in the same bunker. Took a 5 iron out and cleared the first tree about 100 yards in front and thought it would run down the hill to the green. It was a great fairway bunker shot (by my standards) but end up in the rough short and left. I duffed the next chip too and had to settle for 6 for one point which was when I thought my race was run. Just proves you never know until the last ball has been holed.

Sean - glad you got home ok mate and hope you've finally got over it. Are you sure it wasn't just shock at seeing me actually string a few shots together :D I was worried when I didn't see you on here last night as you really didn't look good leaving Tuesday. Thanks for the company and to Martyn (Barham_blue) who had a stonking front nine (apart from blobbing the 9th like me) and then fell away a little. I'll definitely take up the offer to play your track.
