Just back from this event. Played rubbish but it was a great day and credit and thanks to GM for organising it. We had good weather, a course in great condition, played off the white tees, so got all the course and there was good food and prizes. Although I only saw the prizes, didn't manage to get my hands on any of them .....

I guess Homer is still on page 3 of his report!!
Especially if he won something.

Was gutted I couldn't make it but glad it was a good day.

Be prepared for a LOOOOOOONG report, that's all I'll say!

Ethan! I had no idea you were playing in this - would have been great to meet you.

Echo what you said though, great day and a lovely (but challenging) course. Just wish I'd played a few of the holes a bit better.

Cheers to steviep, his nephew and my mate Chris for providing the laughs on the way round.

Sorry Swinger, couldn't bring it home for you today. It's all going to click one of these days though!! :D

Almost forgot - Massive thanks to Sweatysock for dropping me back home on his way back to the West Mids and to Tony (Pokerjoke) for giving me one of the two Srixon hats that he won, what a nice bloke. Shame he's probably driven himself off a cliff and ended it all after the results were revealed. :( :D

Not a problem mate. Glad you had a nice time though.

Hopefully it'll click sooner rather than later for you mate, and when it does you get down to at least 18! :D

A superb day, an enjoyable but challenging course.

Had a great laugh on the way round, hit far too many trees to put a decent score together, but managed to hit at least one decent drive !!

Thanks GM for organising the day and to Aztec, Chris and Rhys for an enjoyable round.

By the way the sun does shine in Wales :)

Who's....? :D :D

:D

To be fair, he's not back home until tomorrow, so I might as well tell you.

One forumer won the 10-13 category.......None other than HomerJ! With 34 points. Much to pokerjoke's dismay with his runner u of 32 points. :D

I've warned him that if he mentions it, I'll delete the posts! ;)

Yet again a superbly organised event by golf monthly and there sponsers.
I would like to thank my playing partners Mike,Gareth and Steve for there company.
Mike a 5 handicapper won the 1-9 handicap section by 5 shots.
I was in the 10-13 section, and as Aztecs has all ready mentioned im not happy, worst of all,but congrats all the same Homer won this section with 34.
Sorry i cant remember the other 2 winners, however best score overall was 36 points.
The course was in good nick, the greens were running true but not overly fast, and 40 points was achievable.
Overall a good day, well worth a visit if you can get a round for £30-40 quid however im sure it would cost more.
Good luck to all the winners in the final.

Nice course, well presented, long and tough off the whites. Local knowledge would have gone a long way on this course, with all the tree's there were a lot of preferred area's to put the ball.

I didn't play particularly well, but managed to get the measure of the greens on the back nine. Unfortunately, by this time, I'd lost the will to live. 5 1/4 hours and waiting on every shot from the 1st tee, just about shot my concentration to pieces.

Thanks for organising this event GM, and sorry I didn't hang around for the prise giving. The mate who drove, wanted to get back.

Pin positions weren't the easiest either - some of them only just on the green on the crest of a drop off on several holes - slight misjudgement of pace and you were back off the green.

5 1/4 hour round pah! You should have been in the last group over 5 1/2 hours - get in and no soup, and hardly any hot food left.

Just got back from sunny Wales after a morning doing the touristy thing with the lady wife. Who said miracles couldn't happen? The course was good and pretty tight with most holes tree lined and actually quite narrow. A lot of the greens were pretty small and accuracy was paramount. I played with Sean (Sawtooth) and he wasn't feeling very well when he left so I hope he got back to Sandhurst ok as he was really struggling.

We had two winners in our group. I won the 10-13 section although to be honest with 34 points I thought I'd be a couple shy. Went out well with 18 including a no score on nine and back in 16 with four single pointers. I played with a great guy called Jim from Minchhampton (?) who took the 19+ category. He had played the course before and so was some help off the tees but even then you really had to have played it before to truly know the best places to put it.

Brilliantly organised day so well done to Jezz, Alex and Tom who crept up with his camera (usually as I was duffing or missing putts) and well done to the Marriott for a decent spread.

I hit the ball nicely and enjoyed hitting fairway and green for par at the 442 yard SI 2 4th. The 18th is a brute. Par 3 of 236 off the whites uphill. Hit a shocker of a thin 3 wood that run halfway up the hill and then hit a semi blind pitch in front of the GM crew watching by the 18th to a foot for par. 55 players and only 2 hit the 18th all day.

Really looking forward to the Final at the Forest of Arden and can't help feeling a little redemption for missing the Ireland trip to see Padraig. Broke the news to my mum this morning and it's made her feel a whole lot better and HID is thrilled. Tried to keep it short (for me anyway) but I'm a tad pleased with myself and my performance for a change. Happy, happy days
