When I was up there at Uni we paid £50 per year for unlimited golf on any of the courses including the Old. And that was when a round on the Old Course was £60. I had a look at that and was shocked by the green fees that are being charged for a single round of golf. I guess prices have increased since I left 25 years ago. Even the student ticket is now £340 per year.

Drive up on the Friday for tee off time at 0712 and play 6 rounds in 3 days leaving after the second round on the Sunday

Tbf, apart from the castle, they are a very easy walk. Good turf and flat.

Was hoping to book this for this year but looks like it's gone, and been replaced with a 54 hole package for £360, which is the Eden, Jubilee and Castle. Doesn't seem as good...I know some of you played all of them for £3, but we're all paying Yank prices now unfortunately.

I've played the Jubilee and really liked it. Heard a lot of good reports about the Castle, not so much the Eden.
I wonder if this offers much of a saving? I would prefer playing New, Jubilee and Castle.

That's a shame to see it go........together with the price hikes, and the removal of the singles queue, the St Andrews experience is becoming less accessible.

The Eden is a strange course. Got some really strong holes but then some very weak ones as well. Overall I really enjoy it though, it's worth playing.

I enjoyed the Eden when we played it. Thought it was pretty similar to the Jubilee.
Hated the Castle!

The "old" hols on the Eden (about 14 of 'em iirc) are good fun. Definitely worth the effort and a bit different to the other courses to the right. Normally pretty empty when the others are full.
As for the removal of the 3 day ticket, it's another nail in the coffin of Scottish golf imho, at least for normal people. We did a trip to Scotland for years, but the constant increase in prices to harvest the American spending power is now beyond a joke.
Last year we went to Northumberland, this year county Durham. Great golf, friendly locals and about half the price of a similar experience North of the Border.
It's very sad, as Scottish golf is wonderful, but I just can't justify the markup.

Agreed. But I just don't think there's any US interest in playing there. And that's what drives the prices up. Last time I was in St Andrews (2023, on the 3 day) I felt like I was at DisneyLand.
Last year in Northumberland, barely anyone from outside the NE. I'm hopeful that Wales stays similarly off the radar.

My guess is that St Andrews prices will continue to increase at a rapid rate for the foreseeable future. The Americans who flood the place would nearly all happily part with £1000 just for the Old Course, without thinking twice about it.
Goswick is pricey but that's a bit of an outlier. It's also an open qualifying course so you wouldn't expect it to be cheap. Saying that, I'm playing in an open there this year for £45. Expensive for an open up here, twice the price of most Opens in the region, but I suspect I can't get on any of the prime Scottish courses further up the coast for that sort of price.
You can cherry pick the odd course, goswick and close house are the only two that stand out off the top of my head, but as a county, we are still a very good value part of the country. Long may that continue.
