Bystander and forum member is watching one male (forum member) and one player female are playing match play.....

Mens par is 70 sss is 68
Womans is 72 and 72

How many extra shots... (excluding handicap) does the woman get... If any?


Liverbirdie stands to lose money... Please reply quick as he had already pocketed the cash...

Assuming they played off the men's card then the equalising shots would be 4 (difference in the SSS). They are added to the ladies handicap and then the difference between the two handicaps calculated.

You dont play matchplay against respective cards...

As advised it's simply the difference in SSS of the tees used, in this case the ladies are 4 shots tougher so they get 4 added to handicap before any allowance is calculated.
Either set of SIs can be used, ladies recommended, but the same ones must be used.

Edit - so it's stroke play not matchplay....

Lady gets 2 shots added to handicap before any allowance is calculated.
They play off respective cards.

Well maximum HC is 36 so that's what she gets im sure

Well as currently the max HC for ladies is 36 then that is what she will get

Erm no, the Lady uses the ladies SI the man the mens. The lady gets 2 added to her handicap to recognise that the man would have to shhot 38 points to play to handicap, but the lady would only have to shhot 36 points to play to hers.

Hope that makes sense.
 
Right, to clear things up as scouser is making a pig's ear out of it:-

It was a little stableford comp between the 3 of us,although scouser was out of it by the 9th.:D

Womens par is 72, mens par is 70(off the yellows, which me and scouser played off).

Womens SSS is 72, mens is 68.

We marked Nic's card off the women's SI's, and mine of the mens SI.

I'm not used to playing women in comps, but on the 17th tee the women's pegs were behind the mens which made me think about the par. I then informed Nic that she would probably be getting an extra 2 shots/points on her total up to that point, as we'd forgotten that their par was 2 more than the mens.

We stopped for a bite to eat afterwards and then scouser brought up SSS (correctly). I was in agreement that she might have got an extra 4 shots (based on SSS) instead of an extra 2 (based on par), so he then started this thread.

I think it is against SSS, but I presume that Nic cant get more than 36 shots (ladies maximum), so do I then only get 4?????

My handicap is 6, hers is 34.

Anyway the story of the day is that she gave me my toughest match this year, miles more than the so called men who inhabit the NW;)...... I played the back nine in 3 under gross, and still may not have won.

Yes, if the relationship between Par and SSS for the two sets of tees used had meant that there was a gap of 4, she would have played off 38 for the results only i.e. if it was a qualifier any adjustments would be from her playing handicap.

This would have happened if the Ladies tees were Par72/SSS74 and the Mens tees Par70/SSS68.
 
In Matchplayand for medals it is based on the difference between the respective SSSes, the one with the higher SSS gets the difference.
In Stableford its based on the differences, if any, between the respective Par and SSS
