On reading the paper (well sun actually) this morning I found that for the third tournament in a row in the European tour desert swing, Marc Warren(who lost his tour card last year) has received a sponsors invite.

I know sponsors are free to invite who they wish but these invites usually go to names that will pull in crowds; John Daly would be a good example just now, and to amateurs/pros from the local area where the tournament is staged. The latter really don’t have much chance of making the cut, but I have no problem with this as it may help them in their game and make them better players.

Marc Warren dumped Bob Torrance as his coach and has gone downhill rapidly. Torrance himself said that he just did not have the work ethic to succeed. So why is Marc Warren picking up these invites? Who does he know? who is his sponsor?

Surely there are more deserving than him. Would anyone further up the current RTD rankings who have missed out on the dessert swing be more deserving? There are a few who have started the season well and I would say they are more deserving.

Marc Warren has missed the cut in both desert swing tournaments he has been invited to play so far, I expect he will complete his hat-trick on Friday. Logging onto my paddy power account as I type

I don't know, but I would guess he has a sponsor that is big in that part of the world. There is a limit on the amount of sponsors invitations you can get in one year, so the chances of him retaining a card this year via sponsors invites are now very slim.

I think he still plays Nike, maybe he got in under Tigers shadow, dont know how these things work?

Hope he pulls it together, I played with him as a junior so youve got to support the local boy.

He's had a no bad week?

Former rookie of the year and a couple of tour wins along with the world cup victory will still catch sponsor's eyes I'd of thought.

I'd rather a European get the invite than a non ET player i.e. Daly.

I think Warren is young enough that he may still redevelop his game and challenge more often?
