Can't remember who it was but I definetely saw someone who appeared to be sponsored by dunlop whilst watching the open today, surely he wouldn't be using their gear would he? He was wearing their clothing but I can't believe that a tour pro playing in a major championship would use their sticks, and if he wasnt why was dunlops name on his cap?

Lee Westwood definitely is. I think that Darren Clarke also is. I think that they just wear dunlop clothes. I know this because I have bought a few pairs of the trousers on the cheap from sports direct.

I knew that both those players wore dunlop clothing, although they both use ping and taylormade respectively, you can normally tell by the name on their caps and I was just suprised as this guy had dunlop on his

I read somewhere (may have been another thread here) that they wear another brand but with a dunlop logo.

Don't know how true that is though, but seems plausible.

They just wear the logo not the actual clothing. The brand is owned by mike ashley who is good mates with chubby chandler. The deal is that any of his stable wearing the logo wins a major gets a million £. Which Clarke did last year.

It's Thomas Aiken I believe who wears clothes, hat and bag but as stated before he only wears the logo not the gear on the shelf

Clarke wears Peter Millar gear with the dunlop logo stitched on. I forget what westwood wears but It's the same idea.... wear whatever but, stick the dunlop logo on it.

It was Thomas Aiken. I was scorecard carrying for him so got to see what was in his bag. He had Nike irons and wedges, but I'm not sure what woods he had.

That's 100% correct.

No money up front just a retrospective pay out on winning a major for wearing a branded logo not any particular item.

If you look at the Dunlop collection advert in the papers it has a little giveaway sentence at the bottom, they endorse the clothing only. A lot of companies just want their logos visible so you get cap and bag deals where the clubs are a different brand to the one they are advertising, i noticed Olesen using Titleist irons rather than Srixon today.

In the eighties anyone near the lead and thus on the TV who didn't have a clothing deal ended up with a Slazenger logo stitched onto their own jumpers (Nick Price in 88 for instance).
