Hi

I'm looking to join a club in the South Notts area this year and wondered if any forum members had any views, tips on which ones would be worth considering?

Nearest would be Ruddington Grange, Cotgrave or Rushcliffe but happy to hear about any alternatives! :)

many thanks

I've been told that Cotgrave is nice, but never been there myself.
2 courses to choose from, and I also think they're part of a group and joining entitles you to play any of them (one of which is St. Mellion) for free, but I haven't checked for sure.

Hi cwc, Cotgrave not very good played a few times with Society the last time for Kidney research June time.
Didnt find the pro shop helpfull either and they were very rude to a number of guests so that probably put me and others off, it was breakfast time for the green staff and they didnt like the fact customers were in the way!
But that was us everyone is different.
Ramsdale not to bad they are linked as well to other courses, full Ts and Greens all year round and great facilities.
How far are you willing to travel?
Chilwell is a nice knock, Ruddington is nice but not when wet.
Trent Locks ok. :)

Hi cwc72 - I can definitely recommend Rushclife. I play there fairly often with a friend who is a member. They have just had there Centenary year and put on some excellent comps and evenings. The pro, Chris Hall, was once on the tour and is very friendly - he also has an very good reputation as a teacher. The greens are excellent and there is only one poor hole as far as I'm concerned, that's the 18th which is only about 250 (par 4) but extremely steeply uphill and it just about does you in making the 2nd shot very difficult when you've no breath left!!

If you fancy a game there sometime just send me a pm. I'm sure we can set something up for you.
Hope that's of some help.
Cheers. ;)

Thanks very much for all the advice! :) Much appreciated and it kind of ties up with what I've heard about Cotgrave. I'm going to try their Open course tomorrow.

I'll definitely PM you Hogan about Rushcliffe.

cheers!
