Just thought I'd try and cheer things up a bit and get us talking about some well earned holidays in the sun. After the dreadful winter and not getting out for a game, what better way to forget the winter woes.

I've booked a weeks holiday in Madeira with our best friends. We've chosen Madeira as it's supposed to be a pretty Island for flowers and gardens - for the girls  My mate and I will have a few rounds of golf. Then in the evenings will seek out the best restaurants and take the girls for a nice relaxing meal.

So as the title says, "something to look forward to".

Has anybody else planned a golfing holiday abroad yet and can't wait to get there?

Nothing planned but intend a return to Murcia to enjoy some sun and Estrella Damm in Aug. And a return to a few courses I've played on occasions.

Aye I have a 5 nighter to Prague with the boys in June to look forward to,looking forward to going back to sample the ale as well as the golf.

Also may be heading to Center Parcs Holland with my 2,Sisters, Bro in Laws and kids in April and have looked at what's available golf wise and discovered we can get a game only 15 minutes drive away here..... http://www.top100golfcourses.co.uk/htmlsite/productdetails.asp?id=558

The thought of a round there may just persuade me to put up with 3 bairns for 5 nights!

You can't beat having a trip to look forward to! :)

Nice one Andy, excuse my ignorance but is Estrella Damm a place or course?

Murcia is close to La Manga, any plans to play there?

Estrella Damm is a beer lol

Never had the urge for La Manga, quite a trip from the apartment I use and heard many a bad report last few years I've been over.

Re. the 5 nighter Dodger, not sure which you'll enjoy the most, maybe the ales I think ;)

The track in Eindhoven looks class - although not a links course it may ignite a love for woodland/parkland. :p

I'm going to Centre Parcs but alas not in Holland but Elveden Forest in Norfolk, sometime in March. There is Golf Course there but only a par 3, will probably have a knock round there with the Son in law.

A week in Florida planned for February. Looking for some warmth on my back and six rounds of golf without winter greens and preferred lies. :D

Might of known it's a beer doh! Must try one.

With La Manga, are you sure it's just the area and not the courses? I know due to the recession a lot of restaurants have closed and the building work had stopped - the apartments along side the North course. It was really disappointing to hear that the Indian Restaurant has gone - you could see over the whole complex from the balcony, the food was great too.

As for the courses, I preferred the West course and then the North. The South was good too but the harder of the 3 with the greens being wickedly fast - the only time I've had 4 and 5 putts on a green!

No golf trips planned so hoping GM have a top end forum meet to celebrate the centenary of the magazine.

Apparently they are.
To make it easy for most forumers, it's being held near the middle of England.
I believe they have selected to play Belton Woods, Belton Park and Stoke Rochford, staying at Belton Woods. The cost is £400 for the 3 days
Are you in Greg? :D

Off to Vilamoura in May for a weeks golfing with the lads from the golf club playing The Old course, Faldo and the Victoria, then off to Mexico in November for 3 weeks for the daughters wedding. Can’t wait

Machrihanish in March, and HID is planning a suprise trip to Barbados which I'm not supposed to know about, not sure when it is though. Quite fancy a trip to Ireland as well

A week in Tenerife with the good lady at the end of May, should get two or three games in. Back for a week then our yearly society do down at Ashbury (Devon) at the begining of June, thats a 4 day fri - Sat gig (72 hole comp + 9 hole scramble)

And then booked for Portugal (East side)for two weeks in August, 4 couples but nobody else plays golf, but that wont deter me, looking to get a minimum of 3 games in during the holiday.
