So what are you listening to at the moment?

Today has been a Supertramp day. A wet, horrible staying in day hence the music collection has taken a battering. Started off with Dreamer from the Crime of the Century album. Finished off with my favourite track of theirs from the Even in the Quietest Moments album, Fool’s Overture.

Nah…my niece plays tenor drum for the 2017 and 2019 World Pipe Band Champions (3rd this year) Inveraray and District, and my can she flourish her drum sticks, bet he cannae spin and twiddle them (for sake of the correct flourish terminology) like she does 😀

And obviously the piping and snare drumming is pretty spectacular also. Though I grant you not to everyone’s taste 🤣 The drum corps…

With my turntable back spinning I’ve been listening to a couple of albums I picked up from a charity shop whilst it was out of service. One was Gilbert O’Sullivan’s debut album Himself…from August 1971.

It has his very well known first singles on it (Matrimony, Nothing Rhymed, Alone Again - Naturally) that in themselves are brilliant and part of the music of my life, but tucked away on the album - an album full of great music of huge variety - was this one…Independent Air and blimey, what a superb track…and something that I’d never before heard.

O’Sullivan did write the most catchy songs with great lyric storytelling. Just love it…and ❤️ the horns at the end. So of its time yet timeless, eat your heart out James Blunt and Ed Sheeran.

Currently on holiday. (See preceding post). Went on a reggae bus the other night to Oistins. (If you know you know🤣). What a racket. The attached was one of the songs that was played whilst on the bus. Not my type of music and was played at Motorhead concert levels. 🙉
