So the Ping G25 is the best driver in the world right now......

According to this http://www.mygolfspy.com/2014-most-wanted-driver-overall-awards/

SLDR was top overall! Distance minus Distance Offlin

Interesting that 2014 Most Wanted is published barely into the 2nd week of Feb! Though it's still after the PGA Show. There are possibly 3 of a certain OEM's releases to come yet!

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of Drivers are still bought 'off the shelf' albeit with perhaps a bit of tweaking from Pro staff.

And for those wondering who OneOff - the Fourth place-getter - is. remember Diawa?

Whats going on? They said G25 was best overall yesterday!

Make your mind up :D

I don't think any single driver will be the best for everyone. If it was all the pros would be using it and to hell with sponsorship deals. Fortunately, we're all different!

I've spent the last week trying new drivers. 3 separate sessions on trackman and flightscope; twice at the range seeing the actual ball flight.

I've hit....

Callaway Big Bertha
Callaway X2 Hot
Ping G25
Nike Covert 2.0
Cobra Bio Cell
TM Jet Speed

and my current R11

For me, the X2 Hot was quite simply head and shoulders better than all the others; both in terms of the numbers and the visible result. All the other "new" drivers were marginally better than my R11 but all the others were much the same while the X2 Hot was a step up again.

Needless to say I'm now the proud owner of an X2 Hot. :whoo:

Which is almost a shame because I quite fancy the idea of playing at Wentworth with Callaway pros on Sky Sports. :D While by no means the "worst" of those drivers the Big Bertha was the most disappointing. I remember when the original came out and it was a real "quantum leap" forward. I borrowed a friends for an extra hit during a round (at Gleneagles as it happens) and knocked it a good 20 yards+ past where my original ball had finished.

The g25 was 6th in their test last year.
So either it has gotten better or everyone else's clubs have gotten worse in the last 12 months.

That or the test is pish.

I know where my money is.

I did that with a mates' £5 Dunlop K-Speed against my Custom Fitted shaft/Tour head once! Not Gleneagles unfortunately. And 'consolation' was that his K-Speed cracked a couple of weeks later.

Good to see you found something that stood out - hope you bought the exact one that you tested! Why both Trackman and Flightscope? Different sessions? Bet it's still 'boring' girlie golf though:whistle: - oh to be that 'boring'!

3 separate sessions just on the monitoring gear they had... Once on trackman and twice on flight scope. With the variation in my swing I didn't want to pounce just on one good session. It was the best by a mile each time..... all three different ones!

It's never boring when I play.... You can always learn a few new swear words....
