So after slating links courses...

Beezerk, I played Alnmouth, Foxton, on Sunday. It is a parkland course on the coast but it was in fantastic condition. I never once had to repair a pitchmark, the greens were that firm. Of links standard in terms of winter condition. If you actually want to play a links course then this is definitely not a links course but if you are thinking links purely because of the time of year then put Foxton down as an option.

Mate, Foxton was my first choice but it ain't good enough for wor Snell it seems 😁

Played Alnmouth Village back in October and would play it again tomorrow if I could. A cracking 9 hole links course. Dunstanburgh Castle was good a good day put as well. They have a deal on their website for £24 which includes food as well.

We played Dunstanburgh earlier in the year, wasn't a huge fan to be fair. I got fed up with losing balls with anything 3 inches off the fairway, had a great day all being said though.

Mate, foxton is a very nice course, well worth a visit if never been.
But as has been said before, it's not a links course.

Goswick is the best links in our area by far, it will currently be on its winter course, slightly shorter, different tees, but still a great course off these tees.

Cleveland is worth a trip too, having played there a couple of times also when Bri (hobbit) was a member before emigrating.........
Next obvious is Seaton Carew.

After that I'd recommend, Bamburgh, newbiggin, and although I've never played it gave heard many good things about Alnmouth village the 9 holer

what about going further and trying North Berwick?

top 100 course and i think from memory they still play the full course over winter, might be off fairway mats at the moment.

Not played it myself but looks superb.

Cleveland > Seaton is an interesting one.

Think I need to check it out!!

Me and 2blue played Cleveland a couple of years ago, really nice course. 1st 4 or 5 holes absolutely killed me  as the wind was right in your face but after that it was really enjoyable. Played with 2 other guys and 1 of them got a hole in 1 on one of the par 3's.

In case people haven't picked up on this Hobbit has now set up a thread on the Arrange a Game section of the forum.

Come along to Redcar in January and freeze your bits off . I'm in.

Well I'd better let you all know how it went. Loved it, it's a really smart course and it's fair to say I've taken a large step to being converted about links courses 😁
Looking forward to Cleveland, it has a lot to live up to.
I won't bore everyone with the details and all important results, but I don't think Lump and Snell will be on the forum tonight, they'll be busy licking their wounds 😉

Was it still the Old Course in play?
