I'm looking for one to play in a couple of weeks. *eats humble pie*
Snell and me both have the 19th booked off for golfing purposes, him being the unbelievable snob he is, is insisting it's a links course.
Have car, can travel, probably a couple hours either side of Newcastle.
I've spotted Eyemouth up the road, is it what you'd class as a links course and is it any good?

Goswick - sorted.

Goswick. Seaton Carew. Cleveland. Hartlepool.

All close by.

Could be interested in joining you if I can clear with the wife!

+1 for Goswick. Eyemouth isn't really a links course and certainly wouldn't be my choice for winter golf on the coast. Or ... Dunbar, anothe half hour up the road 😉

The other links in Northumberland are Alnmouth Village, Seahouses or Newbiggin. None are rated as highly as Seaton Carew and at £20 that sounds a no brainer.

Post how you get on, interested to hear what you think of it.

Beezerk, when we were up north earlier this year when I played with you we played both Alnmouth and Goswick. Ironically none of us rated Goswick, yet we all raved about Alnmouth. Although it was pointed out to us that Alnmouth is classed as a parkland course, it could not get any closer to the sea as some of the holes are on the coast. Another course that we both loved was Bamburgh castle, it must have some of the best views in the country. For me deffo Bamburgh or Alnmouth.
incidently I have not played a links in the UK that has left me dribbling, but I played two in Ireland and they were just awesome.

Interesting, you rate it higher than Seaton?

Yes. Its always languished in its shadow because of Seaton's finishing holes. The last 4 holes can be torture if the wind is strong. But I think Seaton's first 5 holes are dross. Seaton can really beat you up on an iffy day, but Cleveland is fairer across the full 18.

Change your day offs to the 12th and enter the open at seaton Carew
Me and moogie is in it
Personally Cleveland is better than seaton

Played Alnmouth Village back in October and would play it again tomorrow if I could. A cracking 9 hole links course. Dunstanburgh Castle was good a good day put as well. They have a deal on their website for £24 which includes food as well.

Beezerk, I played Alnmouth, Foxton, on Sunday. It is a parkland course on the coast but it was in fantastic condition. I never once had to repair a pitchmark, the greens were that firm. Of links standard in terms of winter condition. If you actually want to play a links course then this is definitely not a links course but if you are thinking links purely because of the time of year then put Foxton down as an option.
