Always wanted to play a genuine links course and for us inland golfers, it's only a couple of hours away (although the 'road links' really stink).
For £99 the offer is for 2 rounds of golf per person and a two course lunch.
On arrival made to feel welcome in the very traditional clubhouse; and can only play in 2 balls or play foursomes - which keeps everyone moving.
The front nine had a prevailing wind at our backs and the springy fairways were quite wide. The 'Rough' I was told, was more significant this year as a result of the wet summer; and you could not afford to stray much off line without a good hunt for your ball.
The back nine is a good deal tighter but the par threes are particularly scenic and demanding. Some 'blind' holes ensured we were better prepared for our second 18.
Lunch was a generous serving of steak pie (other substantial fayre also available) from friendly and helpful staff.
The sea is not always evident unless high up on the dunes or on some elevated tees. Small trees lined some fairways having established themselves amongst the dunes. Also keep an eye out for the 'walkers' making their way to and from the beach!
An excellent day (if a long journey time) and well worth a visit as I am sure many have already experienced. With Brancaster and the new Heacham Manor nearby, maybe an overnight stay is recommended.

Nice review.

Would recommend a round at Hunstanton without reservation. Played it a few years back and absolutely loved it. Classic old fashioned links course. Tough but not brutal, superb greens and fairways and a very friendly welcome from the staff and members.
