Sky Coverage..

I accept they are doing it into homes as well but my point is that Radar (Wayne Riley) is the best on course summariser out there (except for Ken Brown) and so he's wasted on the smallest pocket of viewers watching on a separate broadcast with different commentary team as well.

Maybe Sky are in collusion with the tv manufacturers - put their best presenters / shows on 3D only and people will want to shell out £2k on a new tv ;)

I normally think the Sky coverage is excellent but their Foursomes coverage so far is appalling. 2 matches out and I don't feel as if I've seen the holes at all yet. Must improve.

Oh, and whoever thought that getting 1-time Ryder Cup fluke Lawrie in as a commentator needs firing. His commentary is as good as his post '99 game.

I agree - terrible coverage. The BBC aren't far off as bad though given their penchant for showing what goes on behind the scenes, an insight into practicing with Player A etc. All bolloc**. I just want to watch the players play.

I want to watch every shot and with a tiny field, that should be what is delivered. Agree about the commentary too. I want to know what they are hitting etc.

Very poor from Sky.

this coverage is truly truly appalling - theres 6 matches out there and were missing more than half the shots and the ones we do see are several mins behind live

It's not getting any better is it?

Effectively 12 players on the course and yet this somehow means we don't get to see any tee shots or half of the approach shots or putts.

It's almost as if ITV have taken over Sky. I can't understand it and it's really starting to pish me off, especially after yesterday's let down with the weather.

And is it my imagination or are they going for far more adverts than usual in their coverage? It feels like I'm seeing more adverts than golf. We didn't see a single stroke from the Jimenez/Hanson pair on the last.

so we've got six matches out there, just how do you show live shots simultaneously ?

Even the good old beeb can't do that when they cover The Open, there's nearly always a lag as the broadcast pics are cut from one camera location to another via the OB production centre.

It's still better than fighting your way around a muddy bog and only seeing the back of the head in front of you ;)

couldnt agree more. the sky coverage is absolutely crap. the commentators-apart from butch harmon-are just monotonous bores, it just seems to be one round of adverts after another, i bet theyve not shown more than 50 shots all day. give me peter alliss and ken brown any day. im tempted to just switch off and wait for the extended highlights tonight on BBC 2. i realise that sky is a commercial channel and as such has adverts but the ammount of advert time seems to be out weighing the actual golf.

sorry this is going to sound really OCD but it was driving me crazy. just counted the ammount of adverts on sky, you will not believe this but between 12.30 to 1.30 there were 26 yes TWENTY SIX minutes of adverts. do i really pay a subscription to watch nearly 50% advertisement. its a joke sky!!!!!!

If Sky's so bad, unsubscribe.

How can they show every shot live? "hold on, don't putt yet Lee, they are showing Paddy putting on the 13th".

At least we're getting to see the shots - so, it may not be truely live?

Who do you want as a Commentator? Lawrie at least has experience of winning on the 2010 course. Ok, his Ryder pedigree isn't that of others but who's to say they didn't tell Sky to get stuffed, at least Paul's giving some insight from a Pro point of view...

i think sky sports have got a spy in here fellas. since the start of the third session theres been hardly any adverts. ha ha. so on that note i think sky sports should send every subscriber a cheque for 10 grand and a brand new set of ping's for loyalty. worth a try wasn't it!!

I think the coverage is great. You can't see every shot live, and they can't fit every shot in with the time taken out for adverts. Adverts are a fact of life for a commercial station, even with them it's miles better than the BBC. There's only Ken Brown worth listening to on the beeb, unless you enjoy hearing Allis saying every hole should be played with a bump and run from 200 yards

I'd still rather be watching the coverage on Sky live as opposed to relying on BBC highlights. You can't show every shot live. Simples. I agree it has seemed at times like a putting comp with only US putts (mainly going in) the main feature. However the back nine of session 2 and this current session are much better

Usually yes, definitely. When there are 100 players on the field I agree, but this afternoon there were 6 balls in play, so they could very easily have shown every shot. How they missed so many is incredible actually.

Set the Sky+ to record at 7am start; went and played monthly medal. Got back at 2ish, and started the playback. I finally caught up with teh live coverage 5 minutes before they finshed for the evening. The ability to fast forward through the adverts at 30 times speed is wonderful.

But i'm still p***d off that they didn't show the tee shots of teh 18th etc etc .

Dont know what i'll do tomorrow - maybe have another 2 hour lay in !
