Shotgun starts_ Like or Loathe

It means if you have a good score going when you come to these it's slightly easier to change tactics and protect the score a little more

Never worked whether doing that's a good thing or not, whether I do it or not, or whether I'm even capable of doing it or not!

Logic would indicate that if you've got a good score going using whatever 'tactics', then it makes sense to continue that way. But Golf and Logic aren't normally associated! Though they do have 3 letters in common. Apparently it's the 'F' in Golf that's the problem! That's what the Ex was always saying anyway!

Usually only experience these on charity days and fun comps. I think it is fun to start and finish on different holes and it can affect the way you play them so adds a bit of interest and a change from playing the course the same way every time.

Another disadvantage of starting a long way from the clubhouse is that by the time you get back, the bar is heaving so it takes ages to get served. ;)

Shame, by the time Gordon has shown you where the fairways are it will be too late. You could always kick his ball in the rough though Darren.;)

I'm convinced that's how The Skoda met its fate Rich!! ;)

Forecast is for a light 25mph breeze - we'll be lucky to reach the fairways!!! :(

I get the impression that in a shotgun start everyone makes a little effort to keep their pace of play up - as they can be easily identified if they slow things up. If they do then they slow things up for absolutely everyone and will feel rather exposed when back in the clubhouse. Maybe we should play shotgun more often to teach folk the appropriate pace of play :)

I don't mind SGS's, supposed to be playing in one on Wednesday, just hope I am not starting on the far side of the course, one tee is about a mile walk from the club house.
