Have been looking for a particular shaft to go into a fairway woods for a while and recently saw it on a Benross fairway at 25% less than retail.

So I bought one and now want the shaft putting in a fairway with an adjustable adapter (the Benross is fixed).

Problem is I've asked 3 Pro's so far and none of them can do it for me.

Any ideas whether swapping them is possible? Every time I've asked have been told no so starting to worry.

Any help appreciated

One was a teaching pro, another an AG store PRO so I guess they wouldn't have the tools.

Been googling and a lot of people.on golf forums saying dangerous on a graphite shaft if you don't know what you're doing.

Shafts are graphite, I don't know what I'm doing!

It's so easy, but you`ll need a shaft puller and best check tip size

Thing is Shewy, I'm more Andy Pandy than Handy Andy.

Voids on YouTube show people with blow torches and vices, odds on I'm going to mess that right up!

At least I know it's doable. Will ring around a few more pros and try find some local club builders.

Seems to be a reasonable number of Club /fitters in Manchester area who should be able/prepared to do the job.

Manchester Golf Club? Tour-X? If not, they should be able to recommend someone.

Graphite shafts and heat don't mix very well, as the graphite is bonded with epoxy similar to that being melted! So not a task to be done without a proper shaft-puller - and not one to do 'first time' if the shaft is to be re-used imo. I don't risk it for the sake of a tenner!

Share your concerns about winging it.

Have done some searching. Have a list to go through tomorrow.

Couldn't Brian at MGC Do it?? I thought they had a workshop there or is that just for the Powakaddy Stuff.

They're a bit out of the way but The Pros at Pleasington at Bolton old links have good Workshops for repairs etc

Ct golf in Orpington do it via mail order or drop in. There's nothing that man won't fix. For the costs involved it isn't worth ruining a shaft although a reckon postage may alter the costs on your part

Apparently not. Confused.

Thanks for the recommendations.

It is very important you use a shaft puller to remove it. If you twist the shaft you will ruin it! Removing a steel shaft is a piece of cake but without the right tools I wouldn't attempt a graphite one.

I've used a hot air gun and got a graphite out on 3 occasions, but also messed one up, and was told by an experienced club fitter to heat the hozel area, keep the gun moving and count to hundred!! I just heated for a minute, tried it, then did every 30secs. Took a while but it takes patience.

This ^. I've had a go twice.

Removing a steel shaft was easier than putting a grip on.
Removing a graphite shaft ended in tears.
