Recently iv changed my irons to Cobra's (S2's) with regular shafts.....Im hitting them well... Iv also changed my 3 Wood for a Cobra S2 with a Reg Fujikura shaft i think is designed for cobra....I used to have all stiff shafts in everything and for the most part hitting them wasn't a real issue....I seemed to really welly them but i decided to change to regulars in a bid to slow down my tempo a bit for more consistecy and it is starting to work....There's no loss of distance either.....

Im thinking of buying the Cobra S2 driver in 11.5 deg loft but im a little unsure about the shafts.....It seems that on the cobra website that there is no difference between the S, or R shafts......Is this right....I will go Regular anyway i think to play safe as i hit my 3 wood quite well....Just curious!

Cobra Fit-On Max 65 (Stock Shaft)
The Cobra Fit-On Max 65 incorporates Fujikura’s Swing-Sync Design Technology which provides optimal flexural rigidity and exceptional feedback to the player. This lightweight, mid torque shaft creates a medium launch angle and spin rate.

Flex Kick Point Torque Weight Trajectory
Lite Low Mid 55g High
R Mid Mid 65g Mid
S Mid Mid 65g Mid
X Mid Mid 65g Mid

That information does not mean there is no difference between them. There will be a difference and if you tried a R then an X you would definitely notice it. It is to do with the stiffness of the tip and butt sections of the shaft.

The Fit On in the Cobra is a decent enough shaft but you need to try one rather than buy based on a limited list of specs.

Thanks Ethan....I was just looking there again and the 11.5 only comes in regular shaft so i might give this a go.....I dont use a driver only 3 wood off the tee but i know one day a time will come when its needed so i might get one and just practice with it on some bounce rounds.

My dad has in the last 3 months has changed his driver to the s2 and is consistently hitting his drives 20-30 yrds further than before about 220-240 hes 67 so not bad and im generally 20-30 yrds ahead, his s2 is r/f.I had a drive with it at ilfracombe on friday and off an elavated tee down hill i nearly drove with roll a 356 yrd hole stopping 15yrds short of green and my ad333 absolutely flew off the face it felt awsome and ive just put my g10 on ebay to fund a new driver.Bearing my dads 67 and im 44 do you think a r/f shaft is for me or would as above a different shaft be more suitable.I feel my clubs i play now have taken me as far as i can go with them and am looking to upgrade a lot of my clubs eventually.

Depends how much clubhead speed you have. In my opinion, the standard shafts in most clubs whether Ping, Cobra or Callaway, are pretty weak, and anybody with decent clubhead speed, say more than 100mph driver (240 driver carry, 165 6 iron) may needs stiff, but it also depends on tempo - fast temp needs stiffer shaft - and other factors and preferences.

There is no substitute for good fitting.

PS. I am not younger than you!

They are my distances and i probably have a swing speed that means i need a stiff shaft,at the moment most of my clubs are regular and need upgrading so c/f is probably the answer,ta

PJ if its of any use to you iv had my swing speed measured a half dozen times and its always around the 105-107 mark....My 165 yard club would be a 7 or 8 Iron(bear in mind though that they are the cobra's also and the lofts are strong)
In my Wilsons before i changed i had stiff Pro Force V2 shafts in my woods and i had no problem hitting them.
I haven't a problem hitting the regular nippon shaft in my irons or the reg shaft in my 3 wood but as Ethan has said CF will probably give you the answer.....I changed back to reg in a bid to try and slow my tempo down a little which seems to be working at the moment giving me more consistency...Also iv had no loss of distance either....A win win.... :D
