Morning all , a quick question , how long do you think a new shaft should be in use before signs of pitting become evident ? Got a new Odyssey putter 15 months ago and now showing signs of pitting so i just wondered.Web site says a 2 year limited warranty but getting a bit of push back from the retailer on this they say contact Odyssey but not heard anything back yet.

Thanks.

It all depends on how you care for the metal. If it's left in the bag with any moisture on the shaft then it's going to happen sooner than if you dry the metal and make sure it's stored dry.
Storage is another consideration, I used to keep my clubs I the garage but stopped for that very reason (that and grips perishing) and now they are stored in a warm dry cupboard in the house.
At 15 months if properly cared for I would certainly ly be raising a question with the manufacturer, but only if I was certain that proper care had been taken.

I agree with your reply and the clubs are kept in the house in a warm , dry atmosphere and have never even been subject to rain ! My irons are G5's and the shafts are still as good as new (original by the way) and i do tend to look after them so i just wondered as i have not seen this before .

I've had two odyssey putters and my clubs live outside(either shed or in the van) and no pitting. One of them is the original two ball putter so very old and the other is newer(less than a year).

Not sure where you bought the putter from but are you sure it is original ?

If it is 15 months, then surely it is out of guarantee:(, however I think I would still contact them and see what they say.

Got it from a reputable dealer (AG) so would hope its genuine ! Odyssey website says a 2 year warranty so waiting to see what they say .

I had a similar issue many years ago with an original Dual Force Rosie, it was deemed normal wear & tear. Still got the putter, in fact used it this summer on holiday and although the shaft looks rough, it still works well.

If that is truly the case and they get a dry before storage to remove condensation I would say the shaft should never pit or rust.

As i said earlier i do take good care of the clubs, i think if you are happy with something its worth looking after and i am indeed happy with this putter .
Got an email from Odyssey and have been passed to Callaway Europe so lets wait and see.
