We have an annual match against them and they knew they were getting it at the end of March. The Captain and Sec had a few hours meeting with our new Sec ( who used to run Castle Stuart) and they were saying the 1st and the 18th were not being used on due to the road and it would be a comp course with those Two holes as the entrance and hosp area.

17th as a finishing hole could be interesting!
I have driven it a couple of times as a skinny teenager so it will be interesting to see if they go for it.

Many 'lost ball' second shots there.

Composite course.
From what I hear, they will start at the 3rd, play to 13th then use the three closest holes on No 2 [8,6,7] then 14,15 16 on No 1 with a new tee positioned halfway down 17th to finish at 18th.
Long walk between 1st tee and 18th green!

My friend who is a Country Member there and I were speculating on the format and interestingly the combined 17th/18th was one thought we had.

By the way, I was in Gullane last night and the rough looks brutal.

Harvey, you know that I was up there a couple of weeks ago. Four of us went but only three of us came back! If you find our mate in there, grateful if you can point him in the right direction and give him his bus fare.

You would not need a grandstand for the 18th hole.........6 acres of hill to sit on.

Looking forward to this next year. Might even walk home along the beach or stop for a pint in the Castle Inn in Dirleton - choices choices .
