Scottish Fitba'

Rightly so. For many years of attending Celtic games I'd never heard anyone mock the disaster. Unfortunately in recent years it's become more noticeable, mostly amongst a younger crowd.
I know. Celtic fans were at that game too and I always felt there was some bond there between the sets of fans.
An Aberdeen fan did something similar a couple of years ago, not sure if he suffered police charges too.

I think too many older fans have witnessed football disasters first hand or on television, Ibrox, Hillsborough, Bradford and Heysel and know how terrible it is. No football fan should ever go to a game and never go home again.

The Rangers takeover financed by a share issue. Is that not where it all went wrong last time.

Meanwhile Hearts owners vote for an induction of cash and proven knowledge without losing control of the club.

Interesting times ahead.

They've purchased 51% of the shares to get control. The promise of 20m to improve the squad has been included in the release. The beginning of a new era for Rangers. I think they will be run in a more businesslike manner which in the future will make them much more competitive.

Former Hearts manager Steven Pressley is the new boss of Dundee.
Seems like a good match.
Former Hearts caretaker for two matches, 20 years ago with 100% record during that time (P2 L2), and hasn’t managed in 6 years since being sacked by Carlisle with them in a relegation fight.

So what is it that seems like a good match exactly?

Russell Martin heavily rumoured to be getting the Rangers job.

Decent appointment and a decent guy in my opinion, but how will the bears react to having a manager who is a Buddhist, a vegan, and a member of the Green Party?

He's played a few games for them and he's not Catholic so they will be fine with it. I think.

I used to hear it back in the 90's unfortunately. There was a song about it and me being young and dumb didn't really think anything of it and never really took in the lyrics until a friend pointed out that his dad's pal had been killed in it. Really struck home as a teenager and never sung that song again, people shouldn't be losing their lives going to a game of football.

They won’t care if his team can beat Celtic.

Is this a positive appointment for Rangers fans? A man who was sacked after losing 5-0 to Tottenham, an achievement in itself. A team that were pretty much bottom of all the stats.

His stats aren't that impressive, ironically he lost more than he won (or lost as many as he won) in the instances where he was poached and in the instance he won more than he lost he was sacked!

Yeah, he got Southampton promoted quite possibly as a result of the lottery that is the playoffs.

I'm not convinced, but then as it's not my team that probably doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

Time will tell. I suspect that he wasn’t too expensive to employ. I would rather money was available and well spent on players rather than a vanity manager.

Surely having a manager that has a clear game plan and has achieved success is critical to have a good recruitment? What is the point in backing this manager with players that play his style if potentially he won't last 18 months like the last few managers?

I’m sure he must have done well throughout the interview process. No management appointment is guaranteed to last.

You mentioned it must have been the cheaper option. The guy has a very modest Win % Ratio and was out of his depth when promoted with Southampton. Now goes into Rangers where there won't be a bedding in period as results are expected straight away
