Penalty to Hearts - disgraceful. 😂
Rangers player kicks away standing leg of Hearts player in the box.
SFA referee sends him off for a dive.
Aye right.
Well played Rangers looks like they have a manager that can gel average players into a good team.

BTW
The look and smile the SFA 4th official gave the Rangers manager after the 2nd goal was priceless,

You say that but.............that can soon wear thin
Not for a club like St Johnstone. The Championship has some really good teams in it and there is no big parachute payment to clubs being relegated to it from the SPL. Decent, young, and journeyman pros in relegated clubs will jump ship given half a chance to keep playing in the SPL or will move to a bigger or better financed club in the division.

As a result a club like St Johnstone can quite easily go into a ‘death spiral’ and unlike 1986 when the club bounced off the very bottom of the league‘s 2nd division to finish 30th out of 38 clubs…following successive seasons when the club was relegated, today there is no ‘bottom’ to the league as last place can drop through the trapdoor into either the Highland or Lowland League.

Staying up is really important.

Falkirk Dunfermline and Raith being good examples

@SwingsitlikeHogan if it's a borefest week after week, even that attitude may change. Fans won't turn up constantly if the outlook is 0-0, maybe pinch a goal, get stuffed on other occasions. There has to be some hope and pleasure in watching your team.

This is the nail being hit on the head. What little fans DO actually turn out will turn their backs on going if it gets bad enough.

St Johnsone's average attendance isn't much above Dunfermline's a division below and they really can't afford that to drop. I believe what the sentiment in this about staying up being important is the guaranteed minimum 4 visits per season of the Old Firm and the boost in attendance (and income) that this brings.

Might do St. J some good to go down. The championship is an entertaining league. Took Rangers 2 years to get out and my Hibs supporting mate said the games and atmosphere were great when they went down

Quite a few fans take this view, but only given our current position and last seasons battle…why should a club like St Johnstone NOT be in the SPL - are we too diddy? Plus Hibs were never going to ‘death spiral’…so the time in the Championship could be used as rebuild and prep for getting back up. Not so StJ - the risk is much greater.

And bear in mind our owner wishes to sell up (the club is ‘on the market’), and the prospect of playing in the Championship, rather than matches against ‘prestige’ fixtures against the OF will hardly help attract potential buyers with a bit of ££££s

…and so Levein it is for Saints, with Andy Kirk (was Brechin manager…🤔) as Assistant/Coach. I’m fine with that…no time for experimentation with a young or untested manager - the club tried that with MacLean and look where it got us.

MacLean had a contract for three years… so not that loyal!?
It was an act of ’kindness’ to a great captain of our club. He would have known that the club stuck too long with Davidson out of loyalty and hope. He would have known it was the best thing for the club and himself.

That said…the club never has gone for ‘names’ when getting a new manager…and that approach served the club well in the past. This time it’s gone for a ‘name’…and many are expressing concerns - but maybe Levein as a ‘name’ in Scottish football will be a more attractive proposition for a new owner than a no-name.

Terrible result for Celtic against a decent team. Maeda is probably the last player you would choose to be sent off, with his work rate it's like loosing two players.
Having watched us fall short this season it's really annoying to think there's £72 million in the bank rather than on the pitch.

Absolutely correct in the analysis that they should have spent more cash to strengthen the squad.
Celtic fans won't be happy if they don't win the league. 😉
