Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

Agreed and the idiots know this. Who isn't going to follow their son, dad, husband, mate around the course on such a massive event. They suffered too I'd expect.

Entry tickets are not cheap, so this isn't a pre-organised free gathering of idiots with a plan, it just demonstrates how the American public have evolved, sadly.

What I would have hoped is for Rory (sure others) could have found a way not to respond, as that helps the media present as six of one, half a dozen of the other.

I also hope some of the coverage/discussion of the behavior has filtered back and we may see a cracking final days golf.
Rory and Shane did ultimately respond by winning.

I don't mind their emotional responses. At times they let out a outburst. At other times, they looked visibly upset and drained. Their reactions helped to really highlight to us at home how bad things were becoming. Because we wouldn't have heard the abuse directly in the vast majority of cases. I'm glad that had been very much exposed

I'm sure it may be almost impossible to blank out the abuse that was being fired at them, including during their shots. I think credit needs to be given things didnt go further, like a Shane Lowry Cantona style kung fu kick

100% agree.

It's sad we are discussing it.

Quick question for those in the know - when we get to the required points for a victory, is there ever an option to call it a day?

I mean to say, why would we put our players through the abuse, when it's a team event and we've won?

They said $750 a ticket during the first day coverage. Thats just insane. No wonder they an afford to hand the American players $500k a man to lose.

I think they changed those rules so every game now plays out in full.
Once the Europeans win (and Im sure they will) I suspect the home crowds (not fans) will just leave en masse

Technically once 14.5 is reached (or 14 for retention) Europe could concede every remaining match. They wouldn’t but the option is there.

Just had exactly this conversation with my wife.

I’m not sure what the contractual obligations are, and I agree they are perhaps obliged to play to a conclusion, but if the European team conceded their matches en masse if and when they reach 14.5 points, it would send a huge message to event organisers, and highlight to the wider sporting world, that the moronic behaviour we have witnessed this week has absolutely no part at a major sporting event, or any event.

I remember in Monty’s match think he conceded but was criticised because of the betting on the games.

Might not go down well in the bookies.

Not sure that obligations, contractual or otherwise, over ride the rules of golf tbh.

If they wanted to be really arsey about it they could concede each hole until the oppo wins the match.

Ridiculous.
They are just very bad losers who have had too much to drink, what's it got to do with left vs right?
Politics do not belong on this thread, in my opinion, as I don't this has anything to do with politics.

You don't think golf is a reflection on society and those that attend or play it? Go read the golf sub Reddit and see what other Americans think. You'd be surprised.
