Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

Ok this is enough now. 43 pages. Poor Mando’s internet browser is stuck on this thread and he’s been forced to follow the Ryder Cup all day.

Plenty of other topics to discuss. Turkey has abandoned its attempts to force doner kebab rules across Europe.
 
I think American fans are the biggest ‘front-runners’ - the better they do, the bigger the noise will be

New Yorkers esp have a raucous reputation and I just hope we avoid another Brookline - one of the worst things I’ve seen in pro sports
 
I'm presuming it's preordained but I'm surprised that Aberg is out again first thing. Wasn't at his best yesterday.

I thought Rahm was a beast yesterday, some of the lesser known Americans were excellent. They kept them going when some of their big names didn't turn up.

More of the same today please 😊

How gutted are Morikawa and English that they're about to get spanked again? Unreal that they've kept those two together. Match 3 is going to be class.
 
Golf doesn’t work like that but it’s quite difficult not to give us that 2nd match to us already.

Straka seemed quite down even though they’d just won - slated his own game at interview and said Rahm carried him (not saying there isn’t some truth to that). Wonder if we’ll see him again before singles?

That would be the only situation for sending Morikawa and English out again. 😂 Having said that though, he's sent Young out first who played a blinder yesterday afternoon.

I think we win match 2 & 3, the other two can go either way. Even if it's a 2-2 session I'd be happy enough, that keeps us 3 in front.
 
What have we learned from day 1….
Scheffler just doesn’t seem that comfortable in this environment, he will always hit world class shots, but I just don’t think he enjoys it.
Rahm has been the best player so far, looks in absolute beast mode out there.
Lowry, Sepp and Rasmus really struggling, don’t think we will see Rasmus today, needs an arm round the shoulder and prepare for the singles to do himself justice.
Cam Young looks really comfortable out there, he’ll definitely play this afternoon with Thomas again.

I think both Captains might take form in to the fourballs this afternoon, if a player is on it, he will be in.
Would take 5-3 today 😀

I would put Rasmus out in the 4 ball to give him a bit more practice and confidence going into the singles. Leaving him out completely could totally destroy any sliver of confidence he has.
 
Think the only mistake Luke made was putting Rasmus with Aberg -

Think he should have been with someone like Rose or Rory

He will play this afternoon again but with someone more experienced

Don’t think Strakka was that bad - hit some great birdies early and then later but Rahm was impressive

Lowry started well but just didn’t get going

Think Lowry and Strakka formed a good partnership last time

But I think all 12 will play again today

Rahm/Lowry
Rose/Strakka
Tommy/Aberg or Hatton

Young had to go in. Thomas might feel aggrieved that DeChambeau stayed instead of him. Tend to feel DeChambeau is more suited to fourballs.
Keeping MacIntyre & Hovland feels like Luke's gamble.
Must be tricky as suspect most players are itching for a chance to turn things around, and we know players often go 66 - 76, and vice versa.

Yeah, it's not Luke's style to give someone only one pairs match, he didn't do that at all in 2023 - everyone played at least two pairs matches before the singles. Far more likely to give him a strong partner in the four-balls this afternoon I should think, especially if we still have a decent lead.

He is really trying to use BDC as the man for them to all look up to , the man for the team to follow

And IMO he isn’t that man , even in his interviews it was all about the “I” and not the “we”

A lot was made about that Chambelle comments about BDC more interested in followers etc and it’s not far from the truth

All the others are all about the “We” - he isn’t - that’s just his mentality and for a captain to try and use him as the on field general is all wrong imo
