Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

It's 12 days to the start of the event. If I was captain I'd be giving them a few days off and saying see you next Monday at Bethpage. These guys still practise when they are at home, 4 days prep at Bethpage is enough.

But I'm not a winning Ryder Cup captain so what do I know!
Get the bonding started early and no excuses of jet lag - think Luke has done the right thing….but only time will tell, maybe they’ll be sick of each other by the time they peg it up for real

Obviously we are all hoping for a European win (The Majority anyway).
Would you rather see us smash them though or a tight win where the result is decided by the last few singles Sunday evening?

The last Ryder cup was really done after the first day and although there were occasional moments the US never really looked like staging a comeback.

And to be fair the same for the US in the Ryder cup before that.

Although it’s nice to win well personally I think winning by a smaller margin is somehow more pleasing.

What’s people’s thought?

You're that confident that the only thing to discuss is the margin of victory? 😂

I think it's a moot point, if we win at all on US soil it will be a close one. Would love us to do a whitewash on the first day foursomes though to give us a lead early doors.

As a fan you always want your team to smash the opposition early. But as a spectator enjoying the sport I want to see a tight affair with a hard fought win rather than a procession

I did say hoping for a win and that the US team won easily last time at home.
Confident no but hopeful yes.

My point was would you prefer a tight win like Medinah or a runaway lead like Rome.

If given the choice

Want to seem them smashed - have it record win

Ok, ignoring the home/away aspect then - I would prefer us to edge every session, so it's not completely all over before the singles even starts, but it would take an epic disaster for us to lose it. A total thrashing would be fun, but I wouldn't want the singles day to be a complete damp squib.

I think a close match is much needed - just been trading drubbings for the away team for the last few events Perfect end would be Rory burying Scottie to secure the point and win!

I don’t know how you lot sleep at night, talking about how you’d want to beat the US. Just beat them please, any which way. In fact, retaining it will do me!

Seen this in a couple of places now so assume it must be correct:

Ryder Cup Tee Times (UK):

Friday:

12:10 - Foursomes
17:25 - Four Balls

Saturday:

12:10 - Foursomes
17:25 - Four Balls

Sunday:

17:02 - First Singles
19:03 - Last Singles

Even with the added 3hrs to those times it will suit me just fine. We have a 2 day 36 hole club champs Fri/sat so will finish golf when the AM action gets underway and our two nights of golf dinner/drinks will be well underway when PM action starts (y)

I kinda fancy Cantlay playing last in singles, holing out his approach from the rough on 18 for the US win, they go ballistic, he retrieves the ball for a keepsake and realises he's played a wrong ball !
o_O Europe win but it takes 10 minutes just to convince the US team they've actually lost because half of them are already wearing stoopid statue of liberty costumes and can't hear anything

Interesting article in paper today about the behind-the-scenes jostling for the 2035 event hosting. Report suggests it is a 4 way race between The Belfry, The London Club, Luton Hoo and Hulton Park, despite it not even being certain that the tournament will return to England in that year.

I have little knowledge of those clubs but the fact that the belfry has had it before would rule it out for me. It's good to go around different venues. (Whether it goes to an English venue this time or not 🤷, presumably there has been a whisper about this)
