Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

Okay, so watching both BMW on the USPGA, and the Danish Championship, here's my updated list for Europe (don't really care who plays for the US):

1. Rory McIlroy
2. John Rahm
3. Tommy Fleetwood
4. Tyrell Hatton
5. Sepp Straka
6. Matt Fitzpatrick
7. Shane Lowry
8. Robert MacIntyre
9. Ludwig Aberg
10. Victor Hovland
11. Justin Rose
12. Rasmus Hojgaard

This means that both Matt Wallace and Harry Hall would miss out. Wallace has had a middling run of form of late, so him not being in the mix seesm fair. But as for Hall, I feel it's especially a shame, as, apparantly (according to podcasters No Laying Up) he is 2nd behind Sheffler in number of rounds in the 60's over there this season.. who knew!? I think this is a solid team, with lots of the guys rounding into form at the right moment. Should be a good match at Bethpage

Can't see how Hojgaard justifies a pick on this season's form.

I think Hall and even Rai would be better picks.

This is what matters surely

And right now he is sat top of the Danish Open
His performances on the two tours are a far more accurate reflection of his form and whilst the current event shows a welcome return of sorts it is hardly the strongest field to be competing against.

But I'm afraid that point holds against the DP World Tour in general these days.

Still too easy for a player to accumulate qualifying points twelve months or more prior to the event and then be out of form by the time the team is selected.

Well that is why they changed it to 6 captain's picks, as he is not in the automatic places. But he'll probably get a pick anyway due to being a good enough player. 🤷🏻

Looks like Harry Hall is not in the frame.

Hall has had a solid consistent year but has prob just bubbled along under the line

He has a lot of solid top 20’s but prob just needed something a bit more

Think his card is sorted for next year - if he can make that next step up then he may well play in future Ryder Cups - just at the moment there is a good amount of people ahead of him in the queue

With four Top 10's and currently 45th (predicted to finish higher) not only is his card secure but will get better as he is guaranteed entry to the Signature events on next year's PGA Tour.

It is hard to see too many players ahead of him for one of the perhaps final two places based on this year.

Sadly it has to be accepted that one way or another the best European golfers outside LIV are plying their trade in America and this has been the case for a good many years.

He is 19th on the Ryder Cup points ranking right now

Maybe Hall should have played some more events in Europe to help him qualify a couple of top 10’s isn’t going to shout out to the captain

No one is going to come back to Europe for that reason. Hojgaard (one top 10 compared to Hall's 4) is only back here at the moment because he failed to qualify for the play-offs.

Then Hall won’t be gained the points needed to get in the picture

Halls top 10s aren’t really going to stand him out

He hasn’t won anything with any major players playing in them

Even if Hojgaard isn’t the pick it won’t be Hall

How would playing for fewer points in weak fields on the European Tour help him qualify or get into the conversation for a pick?

because that’s how Hojgaard is higher up the points list after winning the Irish Open , and good finishes in a number of other events like the DP Tour Championship
Those two wins were both last year. He is currently 86th on the DP Tour although that is likely to improve this week.
