Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

Are US starting to build up some issues? JJ Spaun seems nice but won't have the same fear, same for Henley and Griffin. Schauffele hasn't really fired and Bradley talking about playing captain etc. Atmosphere is going to be very tough but the team doesn't currently seem to have the big name quality.

Yes, massive slab of points available at The Open so only worth worrying about it after that.

The top 10 look nailed on and like “the right” top 10 as long as Hovland keeps his current upward form path going. Add Rahm and does the 12th player even get a game other than the singles?
You’re forgetting all the top Liv talent who will take 6 places. Sergio, Westwood, Poulter etc are top performers

Think Captains have learned their lessons and Europe always seem to ensure that every player gets played on the first day
I heard a very interesting quote from Seve about the 1999 Ryder Cup, via the recent NLU podcast. Something along the lines of:

'I didn't see it that we had a 4 point lead. Three of the (European) guys had not played the course before and one of those was in a match against Tiger Woods. It was really just a 1 point lead.'

He also went on to say that playing guys in all of the first 4 sessions, makes them tired and they often end up not playing as well in their singles match. I'm not sure how true that is for other players, but he said that this was the reason his own singles record wasn't that impressive.

As someone who feels the role of the captain has been massively overstated by the media in recent years, I think it is doable. The risk would be to the individuals playing form though.

So much added pressure though. Imagine you're the player/captain and you lose heavily in your first day matches. Do you play yourself again and take the flak or drop out for day two? Also I'd have thought you want to try and watch all the matches unfold if you were captain so you can see how everyone is playing. But as said above it'll be his vices doing that.

Let's hope he does....and makes an absolute hash of the whole thing.... :ROFLMAO:
If I were him, this is the main reason I would only want to do one job. If they lose, even if he has been a brilliant player captain who was just very unlucky, then it will be thrown back in this face.

Sod the added pressure.

With the last major done the big focus will now be on The Ryder Cup

With Fitzpatricks performance in The Open and recent return to form that’s going to shoot him up the rankings

There is every chance that the only change from the last one for Europe will be Rasmus Hojgaard instead of Nikolai

Massively overstated imo mostly by one man who has dined out on his success like he was a tactical mastermind

Gotterup up to 22nd in US rankings - after pipping the best of Europe two weeks in succession 😲
Good job it's very different environment.

Bradley at 10th .. surely he'll play now..
