Right when are we getting a seperate rules section on this forum???

There is so much great and useful information on this topic that gets lost in a day or two.

I really want this added and I'm going to email the leader.

I also propose Rosecott and duncan mackie as mods of said forum (if they would be willing) as they clearly have a fantastic knowledge of the rules!

If it does happen, I'd like to propose Mashie Niblick as a mod. Hes been helping folk on here with the rules for what seems like years.

I agree its a great idea & would like to add my +1 to the mix

Couple of questions tho ? (1)why do we need an extra mod ?, doesnt bother me how many we have, im just wondering (2) when we say mod for this section does this mean these will be the only one/ones answering the questions ? again just wondering.. not being negative ,its a good idea to have them all together

Finaly , many thanks to all the rules maestros , ive learned more on here than i ever knew , your time & help is apreciated

I actually think a Rules section would be good as stuff can get lost very quickly. I often find myself searching for considerably more than 5 mins for past threads. :D

Whilst I appreciate Bobmac's kind words and am flattered by the suggestion that I might be a Mod on a Rules section I tend to agree with Bladeplayer that if we were to have a Rules section additional mods aren't necessary. As I understand it Mods are there to "keep it clean" as it were, rather than offer opinions and as the Rules threads are usually very well mannered I reckon the current mods would cope admirably.

By the way although I am really interested in the Rules I don't have any practical experience (e.g as a referee or club official) I just enjoy looking things up and working out the answers. That has given me a reasonable idea of what's what and what has been covered in the decisions.

I certainly get the feeling that Rosecott, Duncan M, Colin L and and Fyldewhite are the main men when it comes to experience in the field.

seeing as you asked so nicely Crawford :o I have set this up - its live now and open for business

I don't have a major problem with forumers who feel they are knowledegable about the rules posting answers but I will ask GM's Jezz Ellwood to keep an eye on the forum as much as possible as he is a qualified R&A rules official (as in deputy ed Neil Tappin) and Jezz deals works with the rules department at the R&A to produce the pages in the mag each issue so most of the time he does know what he's talking about and if he doesn't he has a hotline to the the R&A where there is a man who does know the answers!

agree, there's no real sense in mods in this context.

from Mike's post he has things covered

possibly the ability to be able to indicate a 'chosen answer' (by GM's team) in some way might be the best way to help the casual viewer to gain more from such threads over time?

Interesting addition.

Now can people give a bit of a clue in the title of their post, rather than the usual 'rules question'. That could get very confusing when there are 20 threads on the go.
