Sunday - 2nd round of the club championship.

My playing partner hits his ball into the trees.

He finds his ball but informs me that it's sitting on a mound of rabbit droppings. He asks me whether he gets relief.

I said that I didn't think that he got relief when in the rough but I said that I wasn't 100% sure so we decided that he'd play two balls - one with relief, one without.

We did consult the rule book but we couldn't find anything relating to it.

Back in the clubhouse we were told that he could have relief. Was this correct?

Tough Sh1t!!
There'll be a decision somewhere I'm sure. Unless there's a local rule - you may have wild ponies or suchlike on the course - the its tough but smelly!

I would imagine you only get relief if it is a local rule.

I know at knowle park if your ball is in deer-crap you must play it as it lies.

A member of my family is a member and apparently it is always a source of much laughter when someone has to play out of the [****], literally.

Tricky, generally there would be no relief unless he can find signs that an animal has at least scraped the surface.

I think he is actually allowed to move the poo provided his ball doesn't also move. I'd recommend using a T-peg to do this and NOT fingers! :D

In my club there might be rabbit droppings but if your ball in not in a rabbits hole/mini hole or something that a animal has made you play as it lays..

And if it is in one you get 6 inch's not a club length etc

You don get relief from the droppings but if there droppings were in a scrapeing, then the dropings would be proof that the ball was in an abnormal ground conditions caused by a burrowing animal and you would get relief.
