Royal Dornoch... on a perfect late October morning

Can say, unequivocally, that links golf in the autumn months can be the best golfing experience ever! Getting a full day's sunshine in Scotland just makes the day all the more special. What an incredible golf course - mind-blowing par threes and holes 8 and 17 (both blind drives) have two of the most spectacular approaches I've ever encountered.

One of my top 3 course behind Muifield and Royal Birkdale. Of the top courses i've played it's a better golf course than the likes of Royal Liverpool, Royal Lytham, Kingsbarns, Castle Stuart, Western Gailes and Royal Aberdeen.

I'd never get bored playing here.

Agree with the majority of that. Not played Birkdale but I rate Dornoch higher than Muirfield. As for the rest none are even close.

I played in September and unfortunately the eye candy you crave in your rating criteria was missing. Hope that doesn't put you off Mr Snelly.

The rating criteria has to change when crossing the border to the north. Several elements are removed as they are like needles in a haystack.
