What’s gone wrong?
Top 10 on the ET for putts per GIR, putts per round and 1 putts. No sure but he could start with looking at his short game and his putting coz they are both rank rotten
Putting stats are very good on rankings, I think it's more to do with his application and desire. Something underlying the ability to rekindle form of old.No sure but he could start with looking at his short game and his putting coz they are both rank rotten
I agree, but looking back at some of his poorer rounds last year, it was his long game that deserted him.As I have said previously, stats are like miniskirts. Reveal.a lot but hide the most important thing.
Stats have a place and a role to play but to rely solely on them is foolhardy.

What’s that got to do with RoryNot much wrong with Sergios game anyway.
Would love to see himPutting stats are very good on rankings, I think it's more to do with his application and desire. Something underlying the ability to rekindle form of old.
Are we talking about Rory Mcilroy, 6th in World Rankings, top 10 on European money list, winner on tour this year, Ryder Cup winner and contended in the Masters? Said a bit in jest and he's not hitting the heights of those major wins but we're talking marginal differences and very competitive fields. A few points to iron out but hardly a man in crisis and could easily find a hot streak next year.

There's an issue with regard to mentality and possibly also the frequency (or lack of) that he plays. As others have said, it's a fine line. The same could be said for Spieth, Matsuyama, Stenson and possibly a few others - all have fallen outside the top 10 in the past year - Spieth from 2nd to 14th! Conversely, McIlroy has re-established himself in the top 10 this year so arguably it could be a question of what he's doing right.
.
People have every right to question Rory, he was talked up and bummed up as the heir to Tiger's throne. He was going to be the next superstar who was going to dominate golf.
He's failed to live up to that hype quite spectacularly.
He is on a winless streak and his game is not at the same level (currently) as DJ, JT, Brooks etc.
Rory needs to win again soon as the new breed of golfers coming through are not scared of him and he certainly doesn't have the dominance or intimidating presence of Mr Woods.
