Rory Dumps Club in Lake

I recall both Ben Crenshaw and Paul Azinger snapping clubs intentionally, not sure if it was putters or irons though.

Crenshaw of course famously broke his putter early on in his singles match against Eamonn Darcy at the 1987 Ryder Cup. Ended up using all sorts of clubs to putt, mainly a 1 iron.

Didnt Stenson hilariously snap a club over his thigh at the Open this year?

Trump just returned the Club to Rory on the range, he know's how to play the media does Donald

Nice touch from Rory just now as after dunking iit in the water again (twice) on 18 he pretends to hurl his iron into the drink again. 😃

When I saw it and started this post I must admit to thinking it was a tad funny and a little bit silly for a professional to let his temper get the better of him.

His later comments were just ill judged - he'd have been better to admit he was a bit annoyed.

The Sky guys were going on about the fine which, in all honest, will not be significant enough to actually make a difference though its a good idea that it goes to a PGA charity!

Applying fines to these guys whose appearance money is so high is stupid and since they don't pay for their clubs either there's no real penalty.

If the PGA and European Tour really think throwing clubs (or any bad behaviour, slow play, not shouting Fore etc) warrants a penalty it should be a 1 competition/match ban (like football). We'd soon see behaviour change!

This - 2 shot penalty and you are not allowed to replace the club or substitute a club in its place for the remainder of the comp.

The fines is relation to the prize money are non comparable, where as a two shot penalty could take them clean out the running and also hit world ranking points and so on.

I'd also like to see damaged clubs not being replaced during rounds but that's a whole seperate debate

It doesn't bother me when player throw clubs, many many club players do it in frustration and the pros are no different to us, apart from being better at golf and having more disposable income.
BUT...if Rory is to be punished for his actions I think it should be that he, and any other player who does this, should spend x amount of weeks without that particular club in their bag or just one club less in their bag.

Played with a guy in the medals yesterday... He was playing some Nike clubs. Thrice he laid up to the bunker and THRICE he chunked his wedge into the Bunker!!. The joke in the group was when he will throw his wedge into the lake. He was tempted to but, luckily we dont have a water hazard (except some boggy fairways and greens).. so he did not 'do a Rory'..

I once saw a guy throw his putter into a lake after missing two short putts in a row, followed by his golf bag containing the rest of his clubs and then his trolley. A few minutes later he was in the lake as well, after he remembered that he had left his house and car keys in the golf bag! It was an expensive car with a fancy remote control locking key that no longer worked, and I believe a replacement key cost him several hundred Pounds. Served him right for losing his temper!

It wasn't as good as Henrik Stensen lobbing his sand wedge over his head into a lake a few years ago... I think he went chunk, thin, chunk, sploosh

And I've never managed to chuck a club far enough to lose it :D

LOL, he's such a card is Rory:rofl: wish I was there to have laughed alongside all the gallery, would of been a great memory to have.

"The new forging manufacturing process in the new Vapor pro irons really give a nice soft feel as they land into the water. I also managed to activate the glutes for extra momentum in the follow through."
