Rory Dumps Club in Lake

Once lost all 14, inc bag etc. I'm now cured... after a long run of wicked slices, which eventually saw me take a rest for a few months, I laid up short of a lake. Sliced into the lake followed by slice into the lake. The bag, attached to the trolley, got a good kicking and was then picked up and thrown into the lake. Thankfully, not too deep - you can guess where the car keys were... and in full view of the clubhouse balcony.

Seems he is going to be fined for it ?

Why ? It's his clubs - should be able to throw it away if he so wishes
I think they are actually provided by his sponsor Nike, so I guess they won't be too pleased about this! By the way, I was always taught that if you must throw a club, always throw it forward so you don't have to walk back to retrieve it! :)

Just my opinion, and it may be an unpopular one, but it struck me as a tad petulant. I think he's a very good player, but i think club throwing is unnecessary and unprofessional.

a tad??? absolutely childish way for the world #1 to behave.

You never saw Jack, Arnie Seve behaving like that and they oozed passion.

Poor show Rory- grow up

I haven't lost a club. Did get so annoyed with a cheap dunlop hybrid that I sawed of the head and glued it to a base as a boogie prize. The shaft came in handy as a tour stick type thing.

Ah, the historical natural throwing direction. I like it.

No different to slamming down a racket in tennis, you get penalised in some way, its ungentlemanly conduct and is a tour rule, notwithstanding as an ambassador to so many fans of all ages along with his sponsors, its something that he shouldn't do anyway, not sure what a fine will achieve though to a multi-millionaire!

does the distance travelled by a chucked club depend on it's loft? E.g. a PW will travel further than a SW?

Great hip turn, perfect weight transfer with a soft draw, he even throws a club with style and held the finish!

You have to get the timing right as well Bert.
Best accompanied by a yell of "F A R R R R R R K off" with the club just leaving the hands at the very, very start of the utterance of the "off" bit.
It takes a little while to perfect, but when you get it right there is no finer, or more satisfying feeling in the world.

I think this is quite shocking. For one thing he is the number 1 player in the world and right at this moment he is the one player everyone aspires to be. Secondly, he has countless fans, and junior fans who may not lose respect for him after this baffling tantrum, but start doing the same thing at their club because Rory did it... And finally, to end this rout, he afterwards said "I didn't need the three iron for the rest of the round, so why not?" That makes me feel sick. In person he is a modest character, who doesn't big himself up too much but that, a tongue in cheek comment about how rich he is, has lost some respect for him on my part.
