Right to adjust handicap or not?

We had this this weekend m Junior 4-9 & intermediate 9-15 ( i think)scratch cups ,

Our mate off 2 wanted to play a game of golf (sponsors guest) so joined in and used the supplementary card .

as he did not qualify for comp his card should not & did not affect css


He asked for supp but if he hadnt the committee have no right to apply it

if ppl who dont qualify for comps want to play , by all means let them but dont submit their cards at all , unless a supp is requested

Have they changed the rules on cat 1 supplemental again......? (Realise this is way off topic -but the original threads taken a few twists as well!)

21.4 A Member is limited to a number of Supplementary Scores in each year as detailed in below:
(a) subject to (d) below, Category 1 players may only return Supplementary Scores during
the period 1 September to 31 December and only to the extent necessary to ensure that
the minimum requirement for Qualifying Scores under Clause 25 is met.
Category 1 players may only return Supplementary Scores over 18 holes;

I got this answer from HM support. Basically ignore the cards as the players did not meet the conditions for supplementary scores.

"If you are aware that the players met the conditions for a supplementary score
then you should enter them as supplementary scores.

Note specifically clause 21.6

21.6 A player intending to return a Supplementary Score is required to signify
his intention
prior to commencement of play in the manner determined by the Affiliated Club.

CONGU consider this important as it is highlighted in BOLD in the CONGU UHS
manual.

There are some other limitations in clause 21 as well.

If the players do not meet the conditions for submitting supplementary card
then you would need to ignore the cards altogether.

Yes, you are correct there is no way to exclude them from winning prizes but as
the 2 players did not meet the conditions of entry for the competition (based on
age) they should not be included in the competition as you are aware."

Why did you ask HM ? They are software support company ? Why not just ask Congu.

You can't put them in as a supplementary card, didn't think that was ever the issue.

I'll ask the same questions again - initially there were two players , did they enter their score under competition conditions including signing for their Scorecard and entering it ? If so then enter the score in the competition but exclude them from any prizes.

I asked if there was an elegant way to exclude the ineligible players from the results sheet in HM, but this was only if they have been processed as part of the comp in the first place. It was determined that they shouldn't be in the comp processing because they did not meet the entry requirements so this was a moot point.

So I was right not to include them in the comp but wrong to process them as supplementary scores.

Lesson learnt for next time and thanks all for the contributions.

Phew, thought it had all changed again!..

So in the situation that bladeplayer set out he couldn't submit a supplemental for that round anyway.

Response from head office.

If the 'ineligible' players entered knowing it was a Qualifier and the committee did not reject their entry, the the scores should be returned as competition scores. Prizes are separate of course.

If the committee were not aware of the entry before they started, the committee may, at their discretion, accept the scores as competition scores or treat them as Supplementary Scores.
